Best WLM Reviews
Traveled here for work. Are two meals here. First I got the salmon. It was average. Over cooked - not very tinder - average at best. (Especially given the price).
So I returned the next day. Got the Apple Salad but added grilled chicken. First off it was swimming in dressing. Second the apples were cut long (2-3”) and TONS of onions also cut about 1/2 thick and about 2-3” in length. The grilled chicken was cubed and obviously canned. Such a let down for a $24 salad.
Now with this said the staff was great. The bar tender (lady with the short dyed hair) was amazing. Super friendly, attentive and on point with her service!
I hope it gets better the view is amazing.
Was super excited about this place after seeing their menu online. Unfortunately, it’s not the same well designed menu, they handed us a kindle with half the options, with weird AI pairing ideas for each food option.
The truffle fries were $15 and were clearly frozen fries with some seasoning. The pizza had about 2 inches of crust and barely any cheese. The crust was chewy and dry. Huge disappointment for how expensive this place is. The service was mediocre, took a long time, felt weird.
I would not go back even with the convenient location.
I'd like to give 4.5 stars, but it's just a little short. (I'm a former school teacher and apparently a tough grader). First off great atmosphere overlooking the lake! Our waitress was friendly and worked hard but overall the dining area seemed a little understaffed and unorganized. With it being the first winter open that is understandable. From ordering our drinks came out quickly and appetizers didn't take long either, but for those of us that ordered just a main item it took some time, about a half hour, and it wasn't that busy when we got there. Still we had the view to enjoy while we waited. Our meals were pretty tasty, shrimp po' boy, veggie pizza, and apple/fennel salad. The price seemed fair.
Overall I'll recommend it and we will definitely return. I'm sure once the "bugs" are worked out the service time will improve. It's a welcome addition to our lakeside town and sure to be super popular in the summer.
This is my second time eating at this restaurant. I was shocked tonight to get my bill and find out a short oberon is $10. I travel the state of Michigan for my company and I can honestly say I have never paid $10 for an Oberon. This is a bit excessive, and the price definitely needs to be adjusted. My bartender was awesome. She was great conversation and I’ll definitely come back to see her but probably order water.
First time trying out the Windward during one of my routine Hampton stays. The normal hotel food was "ok". The bbq wings and truffle fries were good. The blue cheese was not good. Strongly recommend finding a different blue cheese sauce supply.
The bar had a good selection of beer and liquor.
My bartender was Izzy, it was her first night working but you would not have guessed. She was happy, personal, and attentive. Overall great bartender!
The views of this place are second to none!
Definitely recommend for drinks and views. I will give dinner a second chance for sure.
We loved the atmosphere. Our service was very good. The spinach dip is good, but wings, pizza, and shrimp po'boy are not. Those are the only things we have eaten in two trips. We are so happy the Hampton decided to open a restaurant in such a perfect location, but I strongly recommend hiring a consultant, like many other restaurants have, to develop a couple of signature dishes before the novelty wears off.
Really great food and great vibe. I was staying at the hotel on a wednesday the off season, and was expecting it to be dead, but the bar was packed. Full of friendly locals and they had live music going. Lots of interesting drinks on the menu and friendly staff. I had the salmon for dinner and it was phenomenal.
The Windward has become a favorite local spot for my hubby and me :) Delicious food and great conversations (Hi Brad!!) ! Tonight, I had the chicken and bacon stuffed acorn squash, and let me say, such a great comfort dish! Hope everyone has a great experience! :)
