The owner has a real temper and frequently (read the other reviews) goes off on her employees in front of the guests. The portions are small for what you pay for and the food quality is mediocre. I could handle the food portions and taste if the owner would sell the place to someone with a modicum of kindness and tact. I won’t be going back unless they get new management. I feel bad for her staff. I hope their tips make it worth it.
I am a Foodie. I had Saturday morning brunch at the Carriage House today and observed the most exceptional customer service I have ever seen, not only for myself but for everyone ... and every table was taken. The omelet, which I usually order at Carriage House, I consider to be worthy of the Southern Gourmet Society B.O.E. Award (Best Omelet Ever). Carriage House is one of three downtown Jasper restaurants that I would rank as 'truly exceptional'. We who live here are so fortunate.
The food at The Carriage House is so delicious, creative and satisfying. Their cooking skills are absolutely amazing. I’ve tried their cinnamon roll, banana nut muffin and burger and each was the best that I’ve ever had. I don’t know how they do it, but their food is truly remarkable and makes you scratch your head and wonder “how the heck did they make this so insanely delicious?” If you haven’t been to The Carriage House do yourself a huge favor and go there and order anything.
The Carriage House is always a wonderful experience!! The food is very good, the pastries tasty, there's regular and flavored coffees, daily specials. The girls are friendly and efficient. The owner is present, the main chef in the kitchen, and comes out to visit. The Carriage House is convenient - two doors down from the Court House on Main Street - open for breakfast and lunch Monday through Saturday.
Delicious breakfast/brunch! It's just a little cafe with red and white checkered tablecloths and a few sidewalk tables but it's super cute and in downtown Jasper. And the food! Delicious! My family had French Toast and the Cast Iron Skillet. Everything was great and the biscuits were outstanding. They also had fresh baked goods and we got a large blueberry muffin to take for later. I saw someone's omelet and will definitely try this next time. Our server Dixie was awesome too. She was attentive and the food came fast. Great Saturday brunch experience.
We looked this place up last night and we're so glad we stopped in! Great food, service, and atmosphere. The coffee was a bit overpriced, but I feel as though the quality of food and service makes up for that! We'll definitely be back when we come to visit again.
A nice little cafe with outdoor seatings. I had the 3 cheeses omelette. Yummm and my husband had the homemade quiche. You can tell that fresh ingredients are used when taking your first bite. Decor inside and outside deck out for autumn that gives it a welcoming homely feel. Highly recommended.
I can't recommend this quaint little restaurant enough. You walk in the door and are greeted by the friendliest staff. I had the flavored coffee of the day which was delightful. I ordered the Jasper Club on rye and my husband had the Monte Cristo sandwich. Both were phenomenal! We are going back in the morning to try the breakfast. Great experience all the way around!
