I so much wanted to like this place, that I went there twice. The 1st time was busy, so we left our number for a "table ready" but never received a "text". Kinda figured later once my daughter said, she wrote the number down and she seem to be working the door and floor. RED FLAG. But it was Mother's Day Saturday, had no idea that it is an intimate place (small). But the Food looked awesome and the reviews was mostly great. So, lets try again, 2nd trip, Sunday, Brunch, not crowded at all, but same young lady, working door and tables and bar. RED FLAG. But nevertheless, we staying focus on the food to come. WELL, So many red flags happened ???? during the extremely long wait for: Chicken n waffles- the worst I EVER had; Well Done Breakfast Burger- w/running egg (our fault, should have said, we'll cooked egg too); Reg. Shrimp and Grits- received jerk shrimp, we guess)..To us, these three meals was simple..We came to experience the Caribbean cuisine, but didn't know it was ONLY a brunch menu, but no problem, let's go with that. IT WAS A PROBLEM. The service was too slow, for the amount of people that was there. We ordered appetizer, WIngs: simple right..nope. plain and Jerk.???? and a drink: bullfish drink, I think..these two things is the only reason for the two stars. And it took forever to come out. We watched couples leave before getting food. I saw a couple complain about their food. But remained, in all the red flags and noticed the owners sitting at the bar with backs to the people and not making any efforts to minimize the situation. I understand a small business but the workers are doing all they are allowed to do in the owners supervision...meaning if the Leaders are not leading, then as a customer, how can we support? Disappointed. Didn't bother to ask for a manager, although, our waitress said someone had spoke to us, but no one had...I believe she knew how dissatisfied we were but didn't even know how to voice it. She just had a blank look on her face and was glad we was leaving. So sorry, this is all over the place, but this was a week ago. The pics look great. Waffle, taste like pure sugar granules, almost like the Belgium waffles you buy in a pack. Disgusting. chicken had some weird taste- nothing like the wings. Shrimp and grits were ok. But WAS NOT what was ordered. The burger we returned cause the running egg...and some how...a new plate came out within 10mins...but it took darn near 2hours earlier...We know they just cleaned that plate...Anywho, I hope they get it right. Oh, the atmosphere is dark, if you like that kinda thing. Not my preference.
The food was so delicious, and the atmosphere was nice. I usually don't like lamb chops, but these tasted amazing and had a beautiful presentation. The coconut shrimp was on top of a homemade mango pineapple salsa that was so good I would've bought some if it were for sale. We will definitely be going back because there are other dishes on the menu that I'm excited to try!!
We went for restaurant week to try it out and we’ll definitely be back. Everything was very good! We would give our thanks to the kitchen. However, I wish I could say the same for our server. It seemed like we were bothersome that we were eating there. She also asked us multiple times what we ordered after putting it in. We also waited nearly another hour to be paid out. I did wish our tip would have gone to the kitchen instead, but it’s okay. We’ll still be back, as we seen how other servers were treating their tables very well.
I absolutely love the food from this place. It’s always hot, fresh, and full of flavor. I’ve taken my husband and sister here and they each fell in love. The only negative thing I have to say is they don’t have enough waiters. This place is poppin and can get busy. Having 1-2 waiters working the entire floor is a lot. So whenever you visit please be ready for a wait but the food is so so worth it. Just be patient and enjoy the vibes. Our favorite dishes are the lamb chops, Caribbean nachos with pork, chicken bites, jerk shrimp and grits, cauliflower bites, rice and peas, sweet potato soufflé. Definitely a staple restaurant for us and we will return!

I "BullFish" You not. The food here is indeed awesome! I recently discovered that Prairieville finally has a Caribbean restaurant! Just like they state on their website, "Inspired by our French Creole ancestry, the Caribana Cuisine section of our menu reflects culinary influence from France, The Caribbean Islands, and Louisiana." If that didn't convince you enough to try this place out, then you are missing out!

I was actually going to another restaurant, and ran into this place. What a treat!!! It was my first time being and eating at a Caribbean restaurant. The atmosphere was nice, and a great vibe. It did take a few minutes to get seated, understood for a Saturday night. Once seated, it did take a while before we met our waitress. Nevertheless, she made up for it, she did explain the menu, and even went to the kitchen to get a few of the sauces to help me make the best choice for my meal. We went with the 3meat platter. OMG!!!! I HAVE NEVER TASTED A MEAL THAT WAS COOKED WITH SO MUCH LOVE. The ribs has a homemade barbecue sauce, and the meat was so tender, it fell off the bone. The chicken had a true smoke tasted, the best was the jerked pull pork. It was cooked to perfection. The corn pudding and the sweet potatoes soufflé were both amazing!!!
Please understand I never step out of my comfort zone when it come to food, but I’m soooooo glad I did. This place is definitely in my top places to eat. If you’re in the Baton Rouge area, please stop by, you won’t be disappointed…..
The resturant is very nice. It feels like you are on vacation. The co- owner was so nice.
The rice was plain rice and under cooked...it was crunchy. It was supposed to be coconut jasmine rice.
The food was very good. The prices on the menu were reasonable, but once you get the bill, they added 1-2 dollars to every item and charged a large amount to use credit card.
There is a cash price and a credit price which we were not informed of.
Fantastic experience! The service was wonderful. Great suggestions with a smile. My first time trying Joumou soup. Loved it! The ox tail was delicious. The sampler appetizer was great. I could've ordered 3 more plates of that.
