We stopped on our way home for breakfast
The breakfast burrito was delicious. The French toast is thick and sweet. Sonya and Pete are great hosts/owners. Typical bar, they have funny signs all over. It's just a great place to stop if you're going by trout lake.
Pastie with fries + gravy was nice.
Bar staff were giving me my check when I wasn't even ready to leave ????‍♂️they definitely spend more time chatting to locals then trying to make newcomers feel welcomed. Closed at 8pm on a Thurs night??
Some humorous decorations around the bar
On October 5, I ordered a Buckhorn Burger for takeout. I called in just after they had received several other orders, so I had to wait a bit. It was worth every minute. It was awesome. The fries were good, too. I would have taken a picture before devouring, but, well...I think you get the picture.
Anyway, the time waiting gave me a chance to enjoy the fun/clever decor and listen to the casual conversation of the regulars at the bar. If I can manage to get back to the area, I will make a point to stop in at the Buckhorn again.
We had a good breakfast there with French toast, pancakes, and eggs. The breakfast menu is short with no omelette and limited vegetarian options but the items they make were good and service was fast and friendly.
Perfectly located for a stop while trail riding. The owners put in the work daily to be there for the community.
Ride the side by side to dinner!
Steak bites and burgers are really good!
I had the smoked prime rib dip sandwich the other day. It wasn't bad, but I would not get it again. I may just be picky here. I haven't had a beef dip sandwich that I like since moving off of the East Coast. Maybe it's the bread. Idk.
The bloody Mary and the jalapeno burgers are good. I've seen people with the prime rib special ( I think it's on Friday's) I haven't had it, but it looks really good.
Steak bites are delicious painted with the garlic cheese curds.
I Don't think the food prices are that bad but drinks can get pricey pretty quick.
It is a very friendly place, and traditions matter! I've only experienced the morning transition from serving breakfast to serving lunch. My wife daughter and I walked in with about three other tables already seated. After we ordered people were walking in fairly steadily. The volume and menu transition didn't seem to effect the quality or the service. They were kind enough to do a slow transition into lunch as early as 15 mins prior to 11:00, although very limited. I'm guessing after breakfast it's a great place for a beer and bar food with a family type atmosphere as well.
Burgers were so tasty and big with homemade hand cut fries! Awesome place for the price and exactly what I want from a local bar and restaurant.
