We haven’t dined at Barn & Pantry forever and they’ve gone from good to great! We got the vanilla latte and new mint chocolate chip and vanilla espresso cupcakes. All were wonderful! We decided to order some takeout for lunch and ordered the lox bagel. Spectacular! Portion was generous and salmon was high quality. My husband ordered eggs and hash browns and raved about it. We’ll be stopping in on the regular for these great eats!
Been in a few times now and I don’t think you’ll find a better espresso in Dixon. I really enjoyed the open face ham and egg sandwich I got on their delicious sourdough. Their baked treats are great as well!
I have come to the barn and pantry a few times over the last few years and I had hopes it was just going to be better each time! This last Sunday was the biggest disappointment, I had a vanilla latte with French toast and my friend had the Eggs Benedict, and ended up with a ollipop drink because they had run out of multiple of the homemade syrups. (Don't come after 11:30 am maybe?) It was around noon when we dined, but the outdoor and indoor dining area had not been cleaned, so out of the 3 available tables, we got one outside.
We waited for our food which didn't take long but my French toast only had bananas on them. I don't like them and don't consider them a seasonal fruit because they are year round. Also they came out with no butter so by the time I got the cold butter the toast was to cool and it was just more disappointing.
Now my friend had the eggs Benedict with bacon and hash browns. The hash browns were the only thing I'd give a 10 / 10 the hollandaise was okay, the egg it self was over cooked.
Overall the visit was just bad, we love going to nice places that offer local produce and fresh food, but I spent I think 55 with tip for lunch, which is justified if it hadn't felt like I paid to sit on a dirty park bench with mediocre food.
It was awkward for myself because I hyped this place up to some friends, and it did not impress.
My daughter took me here for Mother’s Day brunch. We had fun and the food was delicious!! You could definitely taste the farm freshness in the flavor of the food. It was excellent! Eggs were delicious ???? I had the farmhouse scramble and my daughter had the Benedict- she said it was excellent and English muffin was so good and home made! Champagne ???? also very good!! Overall excellent service and food!
PS - the dip for the fruit platter - omg so tasty!!
I want to start off saying the lovely young lady Lizzy who was our server was AMAZING! Lizzy had such a great personality and gave me a excellent recommendation on what to order. I ordered the breakfast salad add chicken and bacon. Yummy it was so good????. My husband had a breakfast plate that he absolutely loved! The bacon is extremely delicious ????????.
For $23!, we got the thinnest, most overcooked chicken fried steak I've ever had, accompanied by overseasoned gravy. The country potatoes were the best part of the meal. The eggs looked just like store-bought, not the dark yolked robust ones I would expect from a specialty restaurant. The coffee was good & bottomless. The service is minimal - counter order, they did refill the coffee but forgot the requested milk. Lots of flies buzzing around inside.
Probably won't be back.
We've ridden here here a couple of times. Food is always great and staff is friendly. Plenty of seating. Some inside lots outside. We had the crab cake sandwich excellent. Homemade chips great
Haven’t been back here for a year or so. Coffee is still excellent and service is warm and friendly. The food was a bit lacking from prior visits. Got the crab sandwich which was dry and the kettle chips were very cold and stale. The crab was not terrible but no where near what is was. Not sure if it’s worth coming back except for a quick coffee. Little disappointing
