Best WLM Reviews
It was ok. They had a crowd but was very fast with service. Manager stopped by a couple of times to ask how was everything. Drinks were good and strong. They didn't have a drink menu for the bar so you either know what to order or don't. The mojarra fish was fried a little to hard for me but the Americus Fajita was the SO. GOOD. It had five meats (chicken, steak, pork, shrimp and Mexican sausage), grilled onions, peppers and cheese. I would go back just for this if I'm in the area again and the prices aren't bad either!!
The staff was really nice, she checked us from time to time if we needed anything or if everything was fine.
The food was great, I had mojarra and my husband had fajita and it was delicious.
The ambience was good as well. We had a great time here.
Passing through downtown yesterday looking for lunch & a beer, & while there wasn't much open on a Wednesday afternoon, we discovered what we assumed was a little hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurant..was actually pretty fancy inside!! Great place for a nice dinner or even quiet meetings, this place was decorated to the nine!! Host was friendly, bartender wasn't exactly engaging..but she got the job done. The 1800 dip was AWESOME!!!
The building 1800 is in is beautiful and the decor isn't overwhelming, but is upscale Mexican. The lights flicker which made me wonder if there was a short some where. The service left a lot to be desired. I had to ask to be seated even though they have a sign that says Please Wait To Seated. No one seemed interested in seating us and the restaurant wasn't busy.
The waitress acted as though she had never waited tables before and about halfway through our meal she disappeared. We never saw her again. The manager waited on us through the rest of our meal.
The margaritas and food were good. They have a huge variety on the menu. A lot of dishes I've never seen in a Mexican restaurant and a large selection with seafood. The food was served hot and had a good taste. Not completely Mexican, but more like Mexican American. It wasn't one of my favorite places, but I would try it again. My biggest hesitation with going back would be the service.
I ordered the mojarra frita, French fries, and the lime for the fish only, because I don't like the sides that comes with the dish. Neither do I like the flour tortillas. She called back the order, which was correct. Tell me why when I get the meal home, the fish is BURNT. The fries are old and soggy. There were not any lime as requested. I had the floured tortillas and rice, that I did not want, and the chips that I did not want. Also my order was $17 and some change. She gave me $2, but no change. I stood there waiting on my change. She had the audacity to say we gave no change. The restaurant was full. So you mean to tell me as packed as you all were, you were going to tell all your guests that needed change, that you had no change. I'm sure if I was short of change paying for my meal, that you would not have given mental. But, you seem to think it's ok not to give me my change!!!! On top of giving me BURNT, overcooked fish and stale, soggy fries. I called to speak with a manager, after I got the food home. I was placed on hold. No one ever came on. I called back, and still the same. I wasn't where I could go back. Normally, the service and the food is good! But, they fell very short today. This review will not go away until I get a refund. A very short, young, petite young girl waited on me. Don't serve your customers anything, and expect them to just accept it. Take pride in your job, and what you serve your guests. If you have a to-go order, CHECK IT BEFORE YOU LEAVE.
1/13/23 I tried the Ceviche for the very 1st time ever. There's so much lime/lemon juice that it's too tart, and bitter to eat. There's not much food on the dish. $21.99 Before tax is way too much for this dish! I definitely do not recommend!!! It's like a shock tart. After posting this review, I called and spoke with the manager. I explained that it was too tart to eat. He apologized and said "The next time you order it, we'll be sure to cook it right"! He didn't ask me to bring the dish back or did he offer a refund. He seems to value the dollar, rather than satisfying the customer!!! No more to-go orders for me.
I'm allergic to red meat, and when I ordered I noticed bits- that turned out to be steak- in my chicken. My husband pulled out imitation crab meat from his steak dish.(His brother ordered seafood.) Just be aware that dishes mix here, tell them if you have an allergy. They were very nice when they found out.
The restaurant is beautiful! Welcoming environment and live music. All of the staff are very attentive and friendly.
Food:
The salsa was amazing. They have definitely mastered it.
Cheese dip needs work, mine was clumpy and luke warm, lacking in flavor.
I got the taquitos for dinner. If you are choosing between the beef and chicken, go with the beef! It’s juicy and tender! They are very good.
Chicken was a bit dry but flavored well...
Overall, I do recommend 1800 Mexican Restaurant!
Excellent food with generous portions great variety and good service. The decor is elegant even the menus are well done, someone paid attention to details. The only thing that could make me happier is if the chips were less oily. Worth the trip.
