Great deal if you're just looking for a place to crash and take a shower! Booked a room with 2 beds for last minute for a hiking trip. It's rustic so don't expect anything fancy, but it's perfect for folks on a budget. Short walk to downtown. The manager, Susan, is an super nice and helpful! She gave us extra pillows/blankets, checked in, gave lots of recommendations on places to see. Thanks, Susan!!
"For $130 per night you wouldn't think you would be given a room with dirty, BO smelling sheets and treated like it was your fault some how."
Here is the story:
When we arrived at Terrace's Room #16, it smelled strongly of cleaning chemicals which didn't bother me since we could just open a window and air it out. Later that night when we came back from the beach, the room smelled like cat pee. Not just a little, but very strong. I called the desk, but they didn't have a room with 2 beds. The offered a different room with a rollaway they thought might fit, but we decided to deal with it since we were about to put our 5 year old to bed. When we put her in her bed, the sheets and bedding smelled like body oder, and I don't mean a little, I mean like a teen boy that hadn't bathed in days. we took off the bedding and used some bedding that we had in our car. When I took one of the sheets in to the office in the morning (9:30 am on 8/11/23), the lady behind the desk proceeded to tell me that it was my fault and I should have called house keeping. I told her that the sheets should have been clean. I never raised my voice and was not rude to the clerk behind the desk, but she was rude and wouldn't take responsibility at all and decided that there was anything wrong with the sheets even though she wouldn't smell them. For $130 per night you wouldn't think you would be given a room with dirty sheets and treated like it was your fault some how.
Rooms were not great here, we payed for a room with a queen and got a double. The towels were damp and had spiders on them. No air conditioner. When we arrived, there was no one at the office, short staffed, so we had to drive to another hotel to check in for the terrace. Overall, we didn't have a good night's sleep.
Good stay for the money(room 4 one queen bed). No major problems, bathroom door wouldn't shut all the way(didn't try to force it) one of the rocking chairs had a loose arm and a ceiling fan light was dangling a bit(didn't try too hard to turn them on, two other light sources).
The water pressure was great, and far enough from the main road to be very peacefull but pretty centrally located, not too far from anywhere in town. Wifi turns off at midnight.
$150 a night will get you a bad smelling room, a ceiling light that won’t turn off, broken AC, not a single working wall plug, a bathroom that floods when you take a shower, and a bathroom floor that feels like you will fall through it. Hands down the worst place I have ever stayed in and makes the Detroit motels look like nice places. Will never come here again.
We had rented two rooms that were supposed to be next to each other because we have kids. The rooms they gave us were on opposite sides of the building. One room shared an entryway with a different room. A creepy man kept walking past my son’s window (room 16). Our other room was room 10. There is a creepy window in the private bedroom that leads to an insulated room with a dirt floor and no other entry. There was a random shovel in that room. The chain lock on the door completely fell off when trying to latch it. The box fans seemed to be 10-20 year old dollar store fans—cheap and filthy. The sheets appeared to have hair on them and black dots everywhere.
I was born in Munising and came back to visit family. I thought I knew what I was getting into when I booked. I knew it wouldn’t be fancy, but simply a place to lay our heads from our adventures. I knew there would be no frills…no microwave, no refrigerator.
Quite frankly, it’s disgusting and I am shocked it passes health codes. We stayed in room 16. The smell is so rank, I was afraid we were all breathing in something that could make us so sick.
I really hope the new owners put the right work into this place.
The room was pretty dingy and the moldy bathroom was worse. These older units obviously need a lot of work and it's offensive that they charge a $155 for these rooms. There was no air conditioning working, But the Box fan was sufficient. TV only picked up one channel, so either the cable was out or not hooked up properly. The bathroom pictures speak for itself. Aside from the super friendly front desk gal it was a bad experience.
