We were just walking past on our way to have lunch at a different place on Western Ave and the delicious aroma of the food here slapped us in the face as the breeze blew! We had to go in and give it a try! We were greeted and asked if we had visited before, since we had never been there we were given a sample of the very refreshing Mexican fruit water beverages! I had to order a mix of the Mexican lemonade & passion fruit, the mix is amazingly tasty! My daughter had the horchata which was very tasty as well. I ordered the burrito bowel with pastor chicken, which was very yummy & filling. My daughter ordered a veggie burrito and she liked it much better than the other place we were heading to! We highly suggest this place if you are in the area!
I’m so glad I found this place! The owner is wonderful and helped guide us through the menu. There was so much flavor in each dish that was tried. Don’t pass up on the homemade juices. The salsas were fresh and amazing. Great service and exceptionally delicious food. Definitely our new go-to!
This place has the BEST Mexican food in Chicago. From the moment you walk in, you'll have a wonderful experience. The owner is so kind and not only walks you through the menu but also let's you sample their different drinks. My favorite was the passion fruit drink that they have. The best things we ordered were the quesabirria and the gobernador tacos. Make sure to try all of their salsas because they're all incredibly delicious. They're very thoughtful about allergies and even cleaned the grill in between making our food and someone else's food. We will definitely be back here very soon to try more items from their menu!
Fantastic food and fantastic service. The owner/host was very kind and welcoming. All of the drink options are equally delicious. The birria tacos are definitely a highlight!
You could drive by this place a 100 times and then go there and regret that you did. Iit has the most amazing menu and selection of tacos, including shrimp octopus, brisket, and a diverse menu of other items. The owners are so amazing and so nice that I will be going back soon to support them. They have elevated food without elevated prices, which is sort of a rare occurrence these days.
Owner is such a nice person and so hospitable. I see why he has so many regulars. Thank you for the amazing service. We will definitely be coming back.
Everything was made fresh to order and was delicious. And José, one of the owners, is genuinely one of the nicest and most genuine people I've ever encountered. He shared free samples with us od all their fresh juices as well and chips and their salsas. He genuinely cared about not only the quality of our food but also our entire experience while eating there. We wanted for nothing and were made to feel at home. The customer truly comes first at Tepalcates, and I can not recommend this place enough to people! You will not regret visiting!
We had an excellent meal here! While we were waiting the manager gave us samples of the fresh juices and horchata. The nachos were the best I’ve ever had and the food in general was out of this world. There are a lot of options here I don’t see at other Mexican places including octopus and cauliflower al pastor. Absolutely fantastic food and service!
