Best WLM Reviews

I can’t thank the team from Te Rawhiti enough for the important work that they do. Special mentions to Charlotte, Dr. Lata, and Chris - who are all incredibly kind, caring, patient, passionate, supportive and both wonderful at what they do but also simply wonderful people. I worked closely with Chris for a very long time, and I can never thank her enough for the skills she has given me to live a happy and fulfilling life. I was anxious about going into a mental health centre, but it is the best thing I could have done, and I feel lucky to have had such a great experience with this lovely team.
I’m very stressed out and disappointed with the appointment I’ve returned from. Dr Varghese was incredibly insensitive and interrupted me constantly. He was also dismissive of my previous diagnosis and struggles; Namely ADHD and Depression. (Which were Professionally diagnosed and I am being treated for)
He was judgemental of my food preferences, and is old fashioned in his views of gender. I felt unsafe at the time so I brushed it off out of concern for my own safety, but a professional in the Mental Health field should not be so openly dismissive or uncaring of a person’s struggles with their identity. What really concerned me was his response to my suicidal thoughts, he become very confrontational and actually had the nerve to call it “Irresponsible”. A doctor, in the Mental Health Field, calling a suicidal person “Irresponsible” for not thinking of the others around them will their struggling with finding a will to live?!? In WHAT world would this be okay coming from ANYONE? Much less a professional?!. As embarrassing as it is, his behaviour brought me to tears and I had to leave the session early.
I will not be returning to this centre EVER again.
(As a general nitpick, there was also another woman in the room- who I presume was either a med student or placed as a safety precaution of some sort, but the reason for her presence was never announced and left me a bit confused.)
I was discharged without being ready to be discharged and I was told that there was one last meeting with the doctor which I later found out was false. I have been really busy with work lately and have not had the chance to go to my GP. All I asked for was patience and they wouldnt give me that. So I am without medication until I next see my GP. Thanks for abruptly discharging me. This could have been dealt with in a better way. But that's just how the cookie crumbles. 1 star
Amazing doctors, genuine efforts to resolve issues, and with successful results...thank you for being there.
You really couldn't find a better bunch of people together around and Support you or your loved ones suffering with mental illness. No off Street parking that's plenty roadside parks available short walking distance to the centre.
