Spent 6.5 hours there tonight. Fantastic start. Quick to be seen and have obs and testing done within 2 hours. Then it turned to custard for 3 hours. The light at the end of the tunnel was Dr Tall Tim ???? Upfront, honest and a little bit cute if I must say. Very informative and home by 1am. Honesty really goes a long way people!!!
Picked up within 10 mins of calling ambulance, taken straight to ED with my 3 year old who was having breathing difficulties. From Ed to the kids ward everything was professional effcient and the staff outstanding. Thank you for looking after my son and I with such great care. I am forever grateful.
My Partner arrived at 8:45 in a ambulance and got discharged in pain at 11:45pm! at night drugged up and with no ride home sorted out after saying they needed to bring her in for an x-ray?, the guy seemed like he really wanted to get her out of there, just gave her a few meds and no check up time?!
I was fortunate enough to be found unresponsive in my motel room, by my son who called the ambulance which apparently was very quick on arrival. My son tells me they stared to work on me straight away I don’t remember much off it , I was then moved to Intensive Care where I stayed for a day and night, I was diagnosed with Sepsis of my lungs, and legs, I was so so lucky, my treatment and care was amazing from the cleaners , orderlies, Nurses, physicians, physio therapists along with doctor’s and the heart specialists. My treatment was intensive, every half an hour my stats were taken. After 7 days I was allowed to go home. I was very uncomfortable as my strength had gone I’m weak today I guess I’m just going to have to take my doctors advice and start off slowly. The 6 hour drive home was very tiring I live in the Tararua region.
New Zealanders can’t complain about our Health system there may be long waits however when they have 3 or 4 Ambulances come in to A&E seconds apart you should expect a wait.
Be nice to the Nurses, doctors, and assistants they are the lifeline of the hospital.
My only complaint was the meals some were absolutely terrible others were nice but most were cold.
I am absolutely appalled by the comments from others. I live in oz and I loved the tauranga people operating system. The best I've talked to. So helpful. My mum is safe and the team is reliable as fk. Until I fly in tomorrow morning.
Be thankful
i had the most disgusting experience, i waited 4 hours in a triage system due to a suspected UTI. was told 4 hours in that my urine test has actually yet to been tested. My largest problem is how they expected to have an effective triage system if they don’t know what’s wrong. horrible
I could not speak highly enough of the help I received from APU/1a(?)/Transit staff at Tauranga Hospital. I had a nasty abdominal infection and there 2 days (overnght). I'm generally not comfortable in medical environs, and I was put at ease by their friendly, hospitable and professional help. I'm a Kiwi living in UK......I hope all NZ Hospitals are like this.
i went there in ED at 10pm because i had severe chest pain but waited until 4oclock in the morning still didn’t get a chance to see the doctor. you have to be either in ambulance or get heart attack to see the doctors here in emergency. Really frustrating,, i went to emergency because it was emergency but they don’t really care.
