Best WLM Reviews

Taste of the Windy City has the best gyros! Everything else I've tried was delicious, but the gyro salad looks amazing!
I was in Appleton Wisconsin for business. I figured since I am in Wisconsin I really should get some cheese curds. I found this place and decided to order the cheese curds and a Philly cheesesteak with onion rings. I had it delivered to my hotel. I was not really hungry at the time, but I wanted to have the food there for when I did get hungry. So I am sitting on the bed doing some work on my computer and I could smell the food so I said why not just eat one cheese curd. So I open the bag and popped one in my mouth and let’s just say, it was such cheesy goodness that immediately I popped another in my mouth right after I swallowed the first one. And then it was like nonstop. I literally could not stop it was so good. The cheesesteak was also so good! It was even better when I heated it up the next day to finish it! Next time I am in the area I will order again.
The amount of food you get for the price is insane!! Got the gyro and there was enough meat for 2!! Outstanding service and amazing food. Will definitely make this a regular place to eat at. At the people at the store are super nice!! I would give it a 10 out of 5. Well done!!
Alright, where to start? We walked in on a calm weekend afternoon with no expectations of what the food would be like but high hopes for finding a new spot that could satisfy our Chicago food itch. Being a Chicago native I’m always on the lookout for a good gyro and an amazing Italian beef.
I went with a gyro which was generously portioned with heaps of meat as a gyro should be the tzatziki sauce was perfectly made and tasty. The fries were a delicious and perfectly crispy they paired perfectly well with the gyro of which I unluded pictures. Pepsi product we’ll carbonated and we’ll mixed.
You might be wondering if all was well with the food why am I rating it 4 stars? Well… the small details of the restaurant can’t help but be noticed. While it’s an overall pleasant place to sit it seems like there’s been an overall neglect of cleaning the things that are frequently used. The pop machine had old old pop splash covering it I can’t imagine what the inside looked like. The napkin dispenser was also grimy. Vinyl on the seats was torn open in some booths. Additionally, and this is just a nitpick, the decor in the place doesn’t seem to follow a theme. It’s not Chicago themed, it’s not Chicago sports themed , it’s not sports themed, it’s somehow a hodgepodge of all of those things and it takes away from the restaurant.
I’ll be back for sure though. I still have to try the Italian beef.
I honestly wish there was a NO star rating as that is exactly what I would give. We ordered one combination with Italian sausage, sliced roast beef, provolone cheese and peppers. I had my dry with aujus on the side with fries and a drink. My Partner had the roast beef combo dipped with American cheese and fries.
Paid $28.00
My Italian sausage was so dried I took it out of my sandwich and banged it on the table.
The roast beef was HORRIBLE thin and tasted like it was frozen meat reheated from Gordons… disgusting.
I took my sandwich back to the counter and I stated to the young man that I didn’t like the taste of the roast beef and the Italian sausage is hard and dried out. I asked for a Chicago Dog instead and asked for the difference that I had paid, he said we don’t give money back.
Another man approached me and started yelling at me and refused to give my money back minus the $4.49 for one hotdog. He said it’s my problem that I don’t like their food and refused to give my money back.
We left all the food at the table and walked out!
The WORST FOOD & SERVICE EVER!!
I felt literally robbed. The manager said that I’m the “only”person that has ever complained. I find that to be bull$h!t…. To this day I would never go back.. plus they took my money and I had nothing to show for it.
DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY…????????????☠️
Great place to grab many Chicago specialty items including Chicago style hotdogs, Italian beef that is dipped or not dipped, and tamales. There definitely worth checking out if you're in the mood for Chicago food but don't want to drive a few hours south to get it.
Hubby and I stopped in day after Christmas for a quick bite to eat and we were very pleasantly surprised! The gentleman there was very friendly, gave us time to look, answered questions, & we were thrilled to find out that there's no pork on the premises! (Big bonus for us when we go out to eat). Husband ordered large Italian steak sandwich, I ordered a steak wrap. He had a large fry and I had an onion ring... Was a little more than we wanted to spend on an afternoon lunch but it was worth it! Hubby was completely stuffed after half of the fries and only half of the sandwich & I was very full after just half of the wrap. (He just ate his other half for breakfast, warmed in oven and he said it was just as delicious as it was yesterday). We took an order of deep fried pickles to go for daughter (chilling at home). She was appreciative ????
Will DEFINITELY come back!!
Had the beef sandwich with hot peppers and juice on the side. The gard had the sandwich swimming in oil and would be my only critique. Fries were hot and the beef had good flavor. It's counter service and the dining area is small and a bit dated.
