What a great place to grab authentic Mexican food. Order at the window and enjoy quick service of your food. Sit down at a table and enjoy your meal. The place was clean, cozy, and quick.
I have been a regular at this place for more than 20 years but it's quickly going down. It lost its appeal. The al pastor burrito I loved got smaller and the price doubled within just a couple of years. It's more expensive than ordering in the restaurant and they still take cash only!! I understand the inflation and things getting expensive but not 100% price increase that makes the product restaurant expensive. I also ordered double meat and I don't think it was double. Yesterday, I ordered it, and the kid with perfectly manicured, fingernails and painted shiny nude color who took my order to-go took it incorrectly and I left the place with the wrong burrito. I had to drive back and correct that. No apologies, no one word Just unprofessional, entitled kids running the greedy place. Totally disappointed!
Pretty fantastic hole in the wall, with some seriously good eats. Their tacos and burritos are excellent and stand out for me. Everyone mostly takes out, as it's not really designed to sit in. Street parking all around. Call in ahead and you're not even waiting...
I ate my bean and cheese burrito before taking a pic. Sorry! Finally made the decision to stop by this taco stand on the corner. I’m glad I did. I ordered the bean and cheese burrito and an order of chips and guacamole. There were a lot of chips. (Mine were a little stale. I think it was just the time of day.). The burrito was stuffed (required both hands) and it was on a very very good tortilla. The homemade very thin and charred kind. Yum! The menu is extensive. The service was great. It’s a cash only place, so don’t stop without it. There are a few covered sidewalk tables in the shade. Family friendly. Good food!
When I moved to Long Beach 3 years ago this place used to be my spot. Now, the prices have gone up which is fine….but the burritos have gotten smaller and the ingredients aren’t fresh. I had a California Burrito. It was filled mostly with fries that tasted old, cold and stale. The carne was dry and tasteless. I was extremely disappointed. I don’t expect much from the customer service small place like this but I do expect to be service like I’m a paying customer and not an annoyance. I’m really bummed by my experience I used to love this place.
It was a busy Friday. Had tree service guys work on both our front and backyard. They worked up some serious sweat pruning and cutting over ten trees on our property! Dang, watching them made us hungry! (For the record, we did some clean up too after they left)
So, we were were hankering for a burrito. Husband suggested coming back to Taqueria la Mexicana. That sounds good to me.
We got there and he wanted me to choose the meat. Lengua, gotta have the lengua. I like having something I cannot cook at home (one day I will try though).
Burrito is stuffed with a good amount of lengua, refried pinto beans, seasoned Mexican rice, cilantro, onions. side of salsa (be sure to ask for this!)
If there is a line, you may be waiting for your order. We were there around 4 pm and waited around 20 minutes for our order to be ready. That is quite OK because the lengua was absolutely the best, so tender, so well seasoned without the saltiness at all. Their blend of seasonings paired with their method of cooking resulted in the most perfect lengua.
The price was $8.50 for the burrito. good price for the taste and quality. Cash ONLY so bring some paper money. If you forget, there is an ATM in the waiting area.
Parking is street parking as it is in the neighborhood on 4th Street. Learn to parallel park. lol.
So, do not delay, treat yourself to an awesome lengua burrito. (or the many other choices on the menu!)
Buen provecho!
Flavor-wise, the carne asada combo burrito was average. The burrito feels like there's a lot of unused space inside of it as you get tortilla excess with each bite. They also don't provide any chips/salsa. Indoor seating is available but there is no Valentina/Tapatio, napkins, or anything on the tables. Cash only. I think this is just a no-frills kind of place, which if you are then there's nothing inherently wrong with it, but if that's the case then the taste or volume should be above average.
This is the place to get your taco on. Food was fresh as every component was perfectly seasoned, prepared, and cooked. Ordered the taco platter. The meat was flavourful with a nice kick of spiciness. I could go back again and again and again ... Need I continue?
