A quick Google search of "tacos near me" showed me this was one of the highest rated spots close to me. I took my daughter here about 3:30 on a Friday. We were greeted immediately upon entering. There are about 10 tables, so it's not too big or too small. We were given menus, and the young waitress took our orders. She didn't write anything down. This always makes me keep my order as simple as possible out of fear of it being messed up. The food came out about 15 min later.
We were given complimentary chips and salsa, which were both pretty good. I ordered the pork taco dinner. My daughter ordered 2 steak tacos. She also wanted fries. They don't have fries. The taco dinner came with 3 tacos, beans, and rice. The rice and beans were seasoned well. The pork tacos were good. I added cilantro, onion, cheese, and sour cream. Cheese and sour cream cost extra. The pork had a slight crispy char that added extra flavor to the taco. It was chef's kiss. My daughter loved her steak tacos. She ate them both without a complaint. I tasted a piece of her steak that made me wish I'd gotten the steak instead. The steak was seasoned perfectly! It was seasoned so well that I got more tacos to go for dinner later on.
A complaint I have is that the waitress was not attentive. After we got our food, she never came back. She only appeared towards the end of our meal, and I heard someone on the phone tell her to come back because there were now a couple of people in line. She physically had left the restaurant space. She was a younger girl, upper teens to lower 20s maybe. With my to-go order of 4 steak tacos and a chicken burrito, the bill came out to about $67. I also did not like that when I paid, there was no tip option. She rang me up for my total, took my card, and then I thought there would be a receipt for me to write a tip. There wasn't. They had one of the little white machines, so I also thought I'd be able to select a tip. I didn't even handle the machine. She did it all. When I asked how could I leave a tip, I was told not to worry about it. But it didn't sit right with me to not leave one. Thankfully, I had cash and was able to leave a tip. I also didn't get a receipt, which I asked for.
I'll definitely be back. The food was really good, and it seemed like a nice, community and family oriented spot.
Great little spot I decided to take my girls. Food came fairly quickly. The guacamole was delicious and so fresh! It was my favorite part of the meal, I ate it with everything! I got the shrimp fajita plate and two tacos (asada and pastor), all the food was homey and tasted great! Kiddos got chicken tacos, they ate it all up. Server wasn’t as attentive but she was tending to everyone, had to ask her for water even. Busy place but a definite must try if you’re in the mood for tacos and are in the neighborhood.
The Menudos broth was one of the most flavorful and taste dense I've ever had and their portions are outstanding. Horchata is top 5 in the city. They are moving, but I would take the trip to their new location.
Huevos a la Mexicana was good.
The menudo was good.
The shrimp soup was delicious. Very flavorful broth.
Service was good.
My first time visiting this restaurant in my local community between Humboldt Park and Logan Square. The restaurant is clean and food quality is worth the stop. I had the chicken fajitas and it was very tasty and fresh. Very well priced and good food quantity. Great addition to the area.
Best Mexican food I’ve ever had. The torta was pillowy, the sauce set up was perfect, the accompaniments were juicy and plentiful. I loved the decor of the space and it felt so authentic. I hope this place stays around for a long long time. Will most definitely be back.
Nice new place. Tacos al pastor are very good. The chilaquiles were tasty. Haven't tried the asada yet. But I did see a plate. The meat looks way to cut up. But, I will try regardless
Oh yeah. Atmosphere is pretty cool. Very good in visual art and looks festive. Cooks on duty so that you can see how they prepare your food. Excellent food. It's a little high but thats everywhere. Always look forward to going here for a quick bite.
