I've bought flan from here for quite some time. And it has in the past been some of the best I'd ever tasted. But recently I guess the recepie has been changed? It's awful, separated, overcooked, flavorless, and dry. Go back to the old recepie guys comon, this is ridiculous. 7 dollars for this garbage. It's going directly in the trash just like the last 2 you guys have given me. All before that were amazing, whoever was making them before, get them back on that because it truly used to be amazing.
Overall the food was very good. The tacos were incredible. Unfortunately the fried ice cream was rock solid, there was no fry to the fried. It came out of the deep freeze and onto the plate. Trying to eat it with the spoon was incredibly difficult, and needed to wait for it to thaw. I don't know if it just didn't make it into the deep fryer or if that's what their version is. But we were very disappointed that there wasn't a crispy warm shell.
just ate there and it was great. very fresh chips, I had fish tacos, really good food. extensive menu. reasonably priced , great taste, fast service, friendly helpful staff. will definitely go back.
Tried quite a few items here today and really enjoyed everything. I had the beef taco and chicken tostada along with the beans and rice. I appreciate that each protein had its own distinctive flavor, too often Mexican restaurants flavor everything the same and both were delicious. The beans had really good flavor too. My partner had a chorizo, asada, and a pork taco and all three were great. Because I had to I also tried an octopus taco and it was also great. Definitely will visit here again when I’m in the area. Update, went again today (4-15-22), food very good again, service so-so (server on cell phone)
Google said they closed at 9:30 and I arrived around 8:45 to place a takeout order. However, the sign on the front door said they closed at 9, so being sensitive to placing an order only a few mins before close, I asked the gentleman at the front counter if it was too late to place an order. He didn't look super thrilled, but he asked the cashier to take my order and she gave me a menu. During the 60-90 seconds it took for me to scan the menu and place my order, she tapped her fingernails loudly on the counter to signal to me to hurry up, which I didn't care for. The taste and quality of food was fair and the portions were okay. The carne asada was a 6/10, the beans a 6.5/10, the rice a 6.5/10, the tortillas 5/10, and the guacamole a 5/10. The chips and salsa were the highlight of the meal, with the fresh-tasting salsa an 8/10. There's certainly better Mexican food for less money, but maybe not in Salida.

Everything came out quickly, it was all hot and delicious. The restaurant was clean and smelled extremely good. We had a lovely conversation with our waitress. We will be back next time through Salida.
Fantastic tacos at El Tapatio. The selection was really good and everything we had on multiple visits was delicious. The environment is warm and friendly with a nice patio as well. The staff was attentive and helpful so we’ll definitely be coming back next time we’re in Salida.
Thanks to the staff for treating us so well. The drinks were strong, the food delicious, and the service was exceptional. We really enjoy vacationing in Salida and Monarch Mountain. It is restaurants like this one that help bring us back every year. The fish tacos were great. Thanks!
