I am a first-time visitor to Taco John's.
I happen to stop in at the Athens ohio location because I wanted to try something new.
It definitely had a lot more flavor than anything I have gotten from Taco Bell and I ate it like 30 minutes ago and I haven't had to dash to the bathroom like I do after Taco Bell.
It was be really nice if the person in the drive thru was more worried about my order than he is about singing and talking. I have went thru the drive thru 3 times in the past 2 weeks and my order has been messed up each time......
***UPDATE***
I am just going to follow every other locals lead and stop going here. Decided to give it another try and only order 2 things and a drink and sure enough, I got had to of gotten someone else's order and oddly enough I was handing hot sauce and napkins before the bag of food or even my drink. That is a first for me.....
First time trying this place. Cute little setup. We got the soft tacos and the grilled steak and potato burrito. It was small for the price but it was so spicy I couldn't eat it lol. Next time we are in town we will try the potato rounds and some other items.
Had no idea there were any Taco John's east of the Mississippi. It was a nice change of pace for dinner on the road. Staff was friendly. Food tasty. Facility appeared clean and tidy. My only complaint is for the money I would have liked the portions to have a been a bit bigger in the entree.
Food was gross. Not in a hurry to try this place again. Restaurant was clean and employees were pleasant. But yuck, what a terrible meal. Super confused why this place has over 4 stars.
My husband brought me a chicken potato burrito. My fave. Butthis time, apparently it's cooks choice on how it's made. Little chicken and 2 pieces of potato olé.
Literally worst than Taco Bell that should tell you all you need to know. Only thing that tasted semi good was the crispy tots. I was traveling through hoping to try something new but this was not it. It’s 11 in the morning so you’d think the food would be on point being as though it’s bright and early. Don’t waste your time or money.
An Athens institution. My favorite place to eat south of Court Street.
UPDATE: The pandemic seems to have marked the end of Taco John’s salsa bar, which is a shame.
