Best WLM Reviews
Possibly the WORST chippy I’ve ever had, the gravy was the colour of engine oil (and tasted
how I imagine it would) not so mushy cold crunchy peas, and the chips tasted as though the oil has been used 5254252 times previously.
Even the barm cake was stale…. waste of money as thrown straight in the bin! AVOID
Discusting. Just got noodles a sausage, and chips and gravy. Gravy all lumpy , really greasy, noodles all burnt, sausage over cooked been there a good while. absolutely gutted. Anyway stay away from here only thing ok was the curry sauce. Dont usually do reviews but this food really isn't what I expected. Hanging.
Very nice fish I had the other week shame they don't do delivery for Chinese & no menus only inside on the wall but hey still a good chippy use them or lose them ????
Visited today and thought i would pop in for a treat on my way back home. Lots of choice and seating, place is clean and well lit. The couple running it remind me of my parents when they first started 36+ years ago (now retired).
I treated myself to fish and chips with it being friday and had to wait. The wait time was not as bad as waiting for the wife shopping so cannot complain.
The potatoes they use are very nice, the oil was clean on the visit. I waited for fresh chips and its a pity there was a queue or the chips would have scored 10/10. Apart from that close to being really nice perfect chippy chips.
The fish is standard, new generation frozen, set size and quality is about average. Nothing special but also nothing bad. The batter is original with a twist and it has taste. Very well done and cooked out of sight away from the chips. The batter is not too thick and not too thin, good taste, texture and nice balance.
Its a pity i was in a rush and do not pass that often or i would have sampled some other food. Good potential and all the best to them
Best salt and pepper chicken I've had nice chunky chicken and nice portion . Really friendly staff and average prices. Would recommend.
I love their king prawn sweet and sour sauce with egg fried rice.
Polite and friendly staff and good prices. Really enjoyed the food. Definitely be returning.
Decent little chippy, food cooked to order which is always nice.
Quick Facts About Ross Chippy
Ross Chippy Place, based on the comments provided, has a mix of strengths and weaknesses. It is important to note that these strengths and weaknesses are based on the opinions expressed in the comments and may not reflect the overall consensus on the establishment.
Starting with the strengths, several positive aspects stand out. Firstly, the fish is described as being of good quality and taste. While it is noted that the fish is frozen and of average quality, it is not considered bad, indicating that it meets the standard expectations for a chippy. The batter is also praised, being described as original with a twist and having a good taste and texture. This suggests that the chippy has put effort into creating a unique batter that adds value to the fish.
The use of fresh potatoes for the chips is another positive aspect mentioned. It is stated that the potatoes are very nice and that the oil used for frying is clean. Fresh chips are preferred by many customers, and having clean oil indicates good hygiene practices. The only drawback mentioned regarding the chips is that the wait time for fresh chips can be long if there is a queue, but this can be seen as a testament to their popularity.
The staff at Ross Chippy Place are frequently praised for being polite, friendly, and helpful. This is an important aspect for any business, as good customer service can greatly enhance the overall dining experience and encourage customers to return. It is mentioned that the couple running the establishment are reminiscent of the commenter's own parents who ran a successful business, which suggests a personal connection and positive impression of the staff.
The pricing of the food is described as average, indicating that it is not overly expensive. This can make the chippy more accessible and affordable to a wider range of customers, potentially contributing to its popularity. Additionally, one commenter specifically mentions that the staff are friendly and the prices are good, highlighting positive attributes in both areas.
Moving on to the weaknesses, several aspects of Ross Chippy Place are criticized in the comments. One common complaint is regarding the quality of the gravy. In one comment, it is described as being the color of engine oil and tasting unpleasant. Another commenter mentions that the gravy was lumpy and greasy. These criticisms indicate that the establishment may need to improve the quality and consistency of their gravy in order to meet customer expectations.
The state of the other food options is also criticized in one comment. The noodles are described as burnt and the sausage as overcooked. This suggests that the chippy may need to pay more attention to the preparation and cooking times of these items in order to ensure consistency and quality.
Another weakness mentioned is the stale barm cake. While this is only mentioned once, it suggests that the chippy may have occasional issues with the freshness and quality of their bread products. This is an aspect that they should focus on improving to maintain customer satisfaction.
Lastly, the limited menu options and lack of delivery service are mentioned as shortcomings. Although one commenter specifically mentions that they would have liked a delivery option, no other comments directly mention this issue. However, it is worth considering that offering a wider variety of food options and a delivery service may attract more customers and increase overall customer satisfaction.
In conclusion, Ross Chippy Place has a mix of strengths and weaknesses. The strengths include good quality fish, tasty batter, use of fresh potatoes for chips, polite and friendly staff, and average prices. The weaknesses include issues with the gravy, burnt noodles, overcooked sausage, occasional stale bread products, limited menu options, and lack of delivery service. By addressing these weaknesses, Ross Chippy Place could improve the overall dining experience for its customers and attract more business.
