Quick Facts About New Korea Restaurant

New Korea Restaurant, located in Monterey, California, has received various comments from customers that highlight both its strengths and weaknesses. In this analysis, we will explore these comments in order to identify the key aspects that define the restaurant's strengths and weaknesses.
Starting with the strengths, one recurring theme in the comments is the high quality of the food. Customers consistently mention that the food at New Korea Restaurant tastes great and is authentic. The army stew and bulgogi are specifically highlighted as excellent dishes. The fact that customers continue to enjoy the food after many years, as mentioned by a returning customer, is a testament to the consistency and quality of the cuisine. Additionally, customers mention that the price is very reasonable, providing good value for money. This is particularly important as the restaurant offers generous portions, as mentioned by a customer who had a satisfying meal for four people at a reasonable price.
Another strength of New Korea Restaurant is its family-owned and operated nature. Customers appreciate the personal touch and attention to detail that comes from a family-run establishment. This is evident in the positive experiences shared by customers who consider it their favorite local Korean restaurant. The family-run aspect also contributes to a welcoming atmosphere, with the owners not rushing customers even when they arrive close to closing time. This level of service and hospitality is highly valued and indicative of a strong, customer-oriented establishment.
Customers also appreciate the ambiance and overall experience at New Korea Restaurant. The comment about it being a hidden gem adds to its appeal, with customers enjoying the discovery of such a unique and authentic restaurant off the beaten path. The small size of the restaurant, with only ten tables, creates an intimate and cozy atmosphere, enhancing the overall dining experience. Furthermore, the restaurant's remote location provides a serene and quiet environment, allowing customers to fully enjoy their meals.
However, despite its strengths, there are a few weaknesses that customers have mentioned. One recurring issue is the restaurant's location, which some find hard to find. The comment about it being off the street, behind a grocery store and hair salon, highlights the difficulty customers face in locating the restaurant. This can be a deterrent for potential customers who may prefer more accessible dining options.
Another weakness mentioned by customers is the service, which is described as sparse. Some customers mention not being offered tea or water, and others comment on not being attended to after finishing their food. Inconsistent service can impact the overall dining experience, and it is an area where New Korea Restaurant could improve.
In summary, New Korea Restaurant in Monterey has several strengths that make it a popular choice for Asian food. The quality and taste of the food, reasonable prices, and family-owned and operated nature are all factors that contribute to its positive reputation. The ambiance and location, though hidden, also add to its charm. However, there are areas for improvement, including the restaurant's remote location, which some customers find difficult to locate, and the sparse service. By addressing these weaknesses, New Korea Restaurant could further enhance its reputation and attract more customers.

Still one of the best Asian restaurants in Monterey when you are craving for Asian food. Back to family runned new Korean restaurant after 9 years since we left Monterey in 2013 and the food still taste great, including the army stew and the bulgogi. Price is also very value for money at $98 for four pax. Even though we arrived pretty late close to closing time as we drive up to Laguna beach near San Diego, the owner didn't rush us at all throughout the dinner. We appreciated that.
This is me and my beautiful wife's favorite local authentic Korean food restaurant in all of Monterey County. Truly family owned and operated. We always recommend it to new friends and family members.
One of the best Korean restaurants we've been to. We've tried Korean restaurants all over the Bay Area. We enjoy little restaurants like this. They always seem to take pride in their cooking. We're from Vallejo. When we vist Monterey Area. We make it a point to vist this restaurant!
Small restaurant, worth the visit for some good korean food
The place is kinda remote and off the street, there is parking inside when you enter a short driveway.
The food is at par to other Korean restaurant ice been to. Appetizers are served after you order your meal. You should get the beef if you want the bulgogi rather than the pork.
They only have 10 tables so call ahead if you have a large group.
It was worth the visit.
This hidden gem can't be spotted from the streets. You see a grocery store and hair salon. Then in the back of a tiny parking lot is the restaurant. They have a steady stream of customers coming for lunch.
Service is sparse. We were not offered tea or water. The lunch portions for the hot plate dishes are on the small side. Served with rice and banchan ( Korean side dishes). We were asked if we needed any more side dishes but we had already finished eating our food.
Excellent offerings. What we ordered was extremely well prepared and tasty. We were reminded of so many small family restaurants we frequented when we lived in Seoul in the ‘80s. The yaki mandu was great and the variety and taste of side-dishes was very good. We’ll be back to sample some more of our favorite dishes and maybe try some we haven’t had.
Always enjoyed going here for korean food. The staff is friendly and the restaurant is not usually very busy. The banchan selection is good. I enjoyed the bibimbap. Last time I came here for the korean bbq, the portions felt perfect for two people and the meat tasted very good. It may not be on the same level as some Korean restaurants in LA, but considering the local area I recommend it.
