It's gone down. I ordered a tamale it was so overcooked I couldn't bite into it at all, I also ordered a mushroom Quesadilla it was full of grease. The waiter never came back to the table so I ended up taking the tamale plate to the counter and had to show them it was hard. The waiter was new and was working the whole area by himself. I do believe he was the only one who could speak at the time.
I went for Sunday lunch and this place was decent enough. I had the steak and shrimp which comes with a side of rice and “salad”. The steak is thin as I’m most Mexican restaurants, but it was very tender and seasoned well. The grilled shrimp were prepared just right, however the only issue was the with the sides. I’ve never been served a salad without any type of dressing at all. I had salsa left so I improvised.
It is very family and friends friendly and appears it would cater well to large groups. It did appear fairly clean in the dining area which is always a plus. However, I didn’t use the restroom, so I am not able to give details about the cleanliness of that area.
Price: If you eat this meal you will spend about $20 pp.
A Mexican restaurant in Newton MS? Yes!!! And it’s a good one. Good food. Good location. And good service.

It has gone way downhill over the past three years. My wife is from Newton and when I was courting her, we went there and it was good. Tonight was the last straw. The waitress was more interested in the table where everyone was instead of taking care of our group. Messed up two orders, didn’t know what pozole was. My sister-n-law did not get any cheese in her quesadillas, my wife and I do not drink with ice so the waitress decided no ice for everyone at the table.
Makes me sad sad sad. Oh well, life goes on.
Food was undercooked and overcooked, price was way over. Bathrooms were terrible, cold, dirty, and no lighting. And the service was bad. Don't recommend.
Was decent maybe needed to be more specific on what I wanted and not wanted.
Only thing is they need to up date their menu online
I love Mexican but this place just wasn’t it!! I came from Alabama and wanted to take my grandmother somewhere nice and decided Mexican. We get there get seated and they then bring chips and our cheese dip we requested and the chips were stale so I requested a fresh batch which was good.and the cheese dip was not the real goat cheese I could’ve went to Walmart and got the same kind if I wanted grocery store cheese!! But on to the drinks we order our drinks and she brings them... the sweat tea was decent but my husbands cup was slowly leaking and the side of the cup was cracked all the way down, the waitress just apologized but didn’t offer to bring another cup. So we then order and my husband is a meat cutter as we own a processing plant so he ordered a ribeye they bring out a t-bone which was very very thin!! We were very unpleased.
Overly salty food. The waitress give us our food and never returned.
