Booked via Booking.com but had to communicate with the hotel via messages re our stay .|All staff extremely helpful .|Delightful, slightly quirky hotel. Lots of fellow visitors were cyclists or walkers. We stayed to attend the 6hours WEC race at Spa Francorchamps motor racing circuit. Probably about 12 miles from circuit parking at Ster.|Scenery lovely, by the lake. We didn’t have much chance to see around and about, just to and fro the circuit. Pretty village with several bars and restaurants. Carols at the hotel was excellent.|Breakfast great, buffet style.|Big room with 3 beds and sitting area. Very clean if a little dated style wise. |All staff were very helpful and many spoke beautiful English as , shamefully we do not speak much French or German and no Dutch!|Plenty of parking.|Lots of stairs but there is a lift. Shower pressure good. Hooks for coats. Long mirror.|Quite a find!
Last one we can reserve. 2 last hotels we been are full. Typic German style. Room is big, modern, wood alike flooring. Bed are high, medium hard. Apart toilet, shower. Much electric chargers. In corona time excellent to stay. Shower is excellent. Have a lift for 4 adults. Have a restaurant, now is closed ofcourse. Excellent breakfast and restaurant. Two thing not good, bathrobes smel bad. Thinking that did not change it. Towels are old, use. Floors are not clean upon check in. Rest of the food stays overnight on the hall. Butgenbach, nice to stay short period. Hotel use catering. Excellent
This is a charming and comfortable hotel. The lady who checked me in exhibited outstanding hospitality. The single room was plenty big for a solo traveler, and the bed was very comfortable. Best of all was the breakfast that came with the room. It was HUGE and delicious! I strongly recommend the Hotel du Lac to anyone traveling in this part of Belgium.
Excellent location for traveling to Francorchamps. The hotel room was newly refurbished providing great accommodation for our family. Breakfast was plentiful and the staff were helpful and super friendly. The on site restaurant offered a good range of meals, we ate there three nights and there was enough vareity. We hope to visit next year again.
We dined in the restaurant with three generations (with kids 7-11years). The menu was simple and suited everyone, the environment looked a little on the formal side for a family dinner but the staff was very accommodating, and then, the food was truly excellent. While I can enjoy a fancy meal, the burger on offer was superb by any standard, and so was the exotic fruit salad and...
I live in the area and had two visitors over from the UK. I heard a lot of good about Carol's Restaurant. We booked for 7 pm, starter arrived at 7.45 pm and was lovely. By 9 pm we still didn't have our main dish - I mentioned it to the attending waitress around 8.30 pm. At 9 pm I went to the floor manager, being really annoyed now. I minute later we had our main dish - heated up, my friend's pasta was all soft, my pasta dripping oil, the lamb dish was ok. Dessert was nice. What I found really disappointing: no explanation, no excuses, no free coffee for example. I won't be going there, just felt like being treated like a stupid tourist!!!
Rooms were tired and old. One member of staff was 'Basil Fawltey' levels of rude, others were at best passablly courteous. No air con. No safes in the rooms. Never anyone at reception. No staff on site overnight. Lights in hallways didn't work. Lift was broken. Breakfast was actually pretty reasonable. You can do better.
Quite possibly the worst hotel experience I have ever had. I arrived late, nobody had warned me that there was a cut off for check in. When somebody arrived I apologised profusely but it was no good. I was treated as if I had committed some sort of heinous crime. Despite me point out that I had arrived a day later than planned I was quizzed why I had not arrived the day earlier, it’s none of your business mate, you had a free night where you didn’t need to put me up. Aside from the terrible check in the hotel is a bit run down, don’t expect luxury in any way. About good enough for roughing it for a motorsport weekend and that’s it. Would avoid at all costs.
