This was the best Chinese food that we’ve had in Europe. The service was outstanding. The young man who waited on us took care of every detail. We had a couple of special orders that they handled precisely as requested. The chicken cubes were quality white meat which we prefer. We are definitely coming back and would recommend Happy Garden to anyone looking for quality Asian food at very reasonable prices.
One of the better Chinese food options in Ostend.
I've visited China myself so I'm well aware how authentic Chinese food is supposed to taste. Happy garden offers a fusion between authentic Chinese dishes but clearly with a western influence. Nevertheless it's well executed and this restaurant will appeal to a broad audience, even those not familiar with Chinese food.
I highly recommend the Suen Lak spicy-sour soup which is quite close to the taste I remember from China. And if you're in for a spectacular show dish: order one of the Tip-Pan dishes with a choice of meat or fish.
Tip-Pan is served sizzling hot and smokey, straight from the oven and the presentation is part of the show. Other guests will surely glance to what you've ordered.
If you're looking for a bargain deal: come here for lunch and for around 10 EUR you can have an appetizer and a choice of different main dishes. For dinner it's about 12 EUR for the evening menu, so only slightly more expensive.
Service is quite friendly and swift. The interior is spacious and clean, decorated in a Chinese somewhat kitschy style.
A perfect restaurant if you want affordable, quick, very tasty food. I rarely eat Chinese food if any, but I can say that whatever I ate at this place was excellent, with the added benefit of being affordable enough for a student like me. I have yet to know of another place where you can get a soup, entry, main dish and dessert for 20€.
As for the service, it may look a bit cold and "too quick", but it makes sense as there isn't that much personnel in the restaurant, so they have to be efficient. However, if you're in a rush like I was, this totally works in your advantage : the quick service allowed me to finish the whole meal in 40 minutes flat, all waiting time included. I had planned to read a book while waiting, but they didn't give me enough waiting time to finish a single page, that's how quick they are! Also the people are actually very nice, they are just under pressure so they have a "stern" look on their face.
I managed to catch my train with a full belly, and my pockets not totally empty.

Tasty menu consisting of starter, main dish and dessert for 10€, super cheap. The portions were big and they gave rice as a side dish. Overall the food was good but the service was a bit rushed and not the friendliest.
Nevertheless we liked it and would recommend if you are in Ostende!!

Yummy food. Big portions. Prices are the best I've seen in Oostende. Nice service.
Just work a bit on your appearance e.g. working clothes (more professional), chipped plates. Fix that and you'll be the best Chinese restautant in Oostende! :)
Was a nice change from what I'd been having. Their sauces were a bit too sweet for my liking though.
