Amazing service, and so friendly. I visited on my vacation because I am originally from Hawaii. Bummed that I can’t come here often but, whenever I come visit Jersey, I will stop by to get my hair done. Mahalo!
In response to the owner, I love my natural hair! I find it offensive you would suggest otherwise. In any case all the type 2/3 ladies left looking lovely. I was the only type 4 client and I was the only one that left looking like a mop. I posted this review precisely because readers DO need both sides! But I sincerely wish you all the best.

If you have kinky (type 4 hair) or very thick hair do not come here. My appointment was earlier today with Iris. The staff was nice enough but were not equipped to handle my hair. I had to immediately restyle and cut rogue long pieces that were left when I got home. That should not be the case after spending $105 on a service. Overall WAY too much length was cut off, it was not cut evenly, and it was styled horribly. Also, CAO should not be instructing clients to come with their hair dry with no product and un-manipulated if they cannot handle it on clients with type 4 hair. I was charged an additional $10 fee (presumably for detangling) because I followed these instructions. I think the major issue was that the stylist had no idea how to work with my hair in a dry, shrunken state. Beware kinky girls, this salon is not for you! I tried to make an appointment with her (I’ve been going to Devachan for years and was willing to try her based on some reviews). She actually refused to cut my hair (she literally said no exceptions) because I have had my hair styled once for a wedding 1 week ago. She said I would have to wait 4 months before she would see me. I totally understand needing the hair to be untouched for optimal integrity but I have NEVER been refused a haircut by Devachan or any other Deva trained stylist for this before. She tried telling me that Devachan has the same policy… but I have been going to them for 10 years and that is definitely not true. I went ahead and booked my appointment with Devachan this weekend. Update: I see the owner now has responded and I just want to reiterate that she did refuse to cut my hair. She did not simply advise me that it would be better to wait 4 months as she is stating in her reply.
???? Great customer service and atmosphere. NOT your typical 'walk-in w/no appointment, chatterbox noise, or regular priced' hair salon. Concentration is on your natural curls and each of us have unique curls that requires an individualized maintenance plan which is why an appointment is required. Your assigned appointment provides you the time needed to go over the important details about your curls, the unique service required and helps customers realize the importance of natural and accepting it. Ms. Iris (owner) and Ms. Natasha got things down packed, organized and running. After my 1st visit, I recommended this place to familia and friends, and they were satisfied. Can't wait for the next visit. UPDATE: 7yrs strong natural curls dedicated customer. ???????? Just look at them ????curls via my Google profile pic. Never blown or ironed my curls straight again since.????????

From the moment I walked in I felt welcomed by Iris (owner)! She’s extremely sweet and knowledgeable, she walked me through the entire process of cutting and styling my hair (I had many questions, sorry lol!) I’m obsessed with my haircut & I’m receiving compliments Left & right!

AMAZING!! Iris did such a good job on my hair I am in love! And even my family members who were skeptical about me cutting my hair loved it too. She knows exactly what to do and which products are right for you. She is patient and willing to address all your concerns. Will definitely be coming back for future hair cuts and more!!
I was really looking forward to returning here for a haircut, but when informed of the policy for a 50 dollar deposit and a 72 hour notice of cancellation, I had to decline. I believe I remember paying the 50 dollar deposit at my previous appointment 2 years prior, but now with 2 kids under 2, it’s too risky, and I would risk losing that 50 dollars. I understand this is your policy, and you need to make sure you are making a profit, but life happens, and it is a haircut. It is not like I am missing out on a medical procedure. I am afraid you have lost another customer because of this. Fortunately, there are other salons that do curly cuts in the area, but I will miss you guys.
My daughter has been going to Iris (the business owner) every 4-5 months for a haircut for the past 4 years. Unfortunately, Iris' lack of professionalism in rescheduling my daughter's appointment is the reason for this review. I am very well aware of the salon policies, as like I said, we had been there many times. I called the salon on Tuesday (1:38pm) to reschedule an appointment we had for Friday at 3pm. I left a message as no one answered the phone during her normal hours of operation. Iris finally called me back on Thursday and IMMEDIATELY told me I had to pay a 40% rescheduling fee. I explained to her that I DID call within her 72 hour policy and did not think I should be responsible for paying this fee. She said she would check her call log and call me back. 5 hours later, she called back and again insisted that I needed to pay this fee. I again, reiterated the time I initially called to reschedule (which she should have know had she really checked her call log) and GUESS WHAT? she said it was her mistake. Maybe she should have listened instead of being so stubborn. At that point, I just didn't feel like rescheduling the appointment anymore. She then proceeded to tell me, a loyal client, that she did not appreciate MY attitude and that I would still have a balance of 40% of my service on my account. WHAT?!? SHE ALREADY SAID IT WAS HER MISTAKE! why do I have to pay? Then, without letting me get a word in, she hung up on me. All this just to reschedule. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!!
