My wife and I decided to try Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen at 18600 Veterans Blvd, Port Charlotte. It was our first time ever visiting a Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen and we were excited to try it out.
The first thing we noticed as we walked into the place was a giant aquarium on the right side filled with fish. At first I thought it was a saltwater tank, but later I found out that it actually was a 400 gallon fresh water tank with many colorful freshwater fish, mainly from Africa. It really was a beautifully maintained tank and simply stunning in placement and sheer size. The whole place is larger than I would have imagined and it is kept very clean and presentable.
We were led to our table by a friendly hostess and shortly greeted by our server who introduced herself as Tammy. Very professional and friendly. We were impressed. We ordered a couple of sodas and as we waited, we looked over their menu items. The menu was very easy to understand and was straightforward. We have been at other places that simply were confusing because of 'order this with that or substitute this with that'. These feel to us needlessly complicated. We liked the menu. I ended up ordering the Bacon Cheeseburger and substituted an order of coleslaw instead of the fries. My wife ordered a simple cheeseburger with fries. The food was delivered after about a 15 to 20 minute wait. Which we felt was understandable. This is not a fast food joint.
The meal was delicious and perfectly cooked. We enjoyed it immensely. For dessert we ordered a slice of Carrot Cake and split that since it was huge. My wife remarked that this was the best Carrot Cake she had ever tasted. I'd have to agree!
Our entire meal came to $39.00 without tip. Very reasonable! We chatted with the hostess and host up front before leaving. They asked us how our meal was and suggested next time to try the ribs. All in all this was a very pleasant place to eat at a reasonable price. We feel confident in endorsing this as a place where you should try if you are ever in the area. Good food, good service and friendly people! The trifecta of successful restaurants! We will be back!
I highly recommend this place very great service! The food is delicious. My waitress Tracey was so amazing super friendly. Love the hospitality when she came to our table!!! The barbecue ribs were awesome, literally melting your mouth every bit! The country fried steak is enough to feed 2 people. When you order, you will definitely not leave their hungry with the portions you receive.
I would highly recommend Cheddars, our meals have been delicious and the service pretty good. We been for dinners three times and had had very good meals and service. The first time was very busy so the service was a bit slower but didn’t really bother us. Loved the “Painkiller” and the big margarita. I’ve had the tbone steak twice and the meatloaf. Tbone better than the meatloaf. My wife loved the honey Dijon chicken. My brother in law and a friend had the key west chicken and shrimp and loved it. We have had groups of 2, 4 and 5 and everyone wanted to come back to try other entrees and drinks. Keep up the good work, we don’t mind driving 20 minutes to get dinner. Should be back in the next two weeks.
We went here for my birthday dinner because we figured they would have something for everyone. I’ve been searching this area for good ribs and Cheddar’s did not disappoint. I also found my new favorite adult beverage. The Painkiller is a Pina Colada on steroids, limited 2 per guest. Service from Christopher C was spot on. We will definitely be back.
I was taken here by a friend with the promise of really good food. I give it a big????????!! It wasn’t terrible or un sanitary in anyway but definitely not worth the prices and definitely not homemade comfort food. It was more akin to opening cans and heating it up. That’s what I tasted. The dip pictured was the worst of it. It is portrayed in the menu as one of the standard Spinach, Artichoke, Cheese dips but it tasted like frozen Spinach in a disgusting cream (not cheesy at all) and heated. Straight green Spinach taste. Very bland. On the side, an even more disgusting Salsa that tasted of the can. A dinner side Caesar Salad (just salad. Nothing Caesar about it. Especially the dressing) was decent, few brown spots but still edible. I had the “Herb Baked Chicken” that was about as basic as it comes for $14.99. Look at it, that’s exactly how it came to me. No garnish, no herbs to be seen and very bland. The upside was our waitress who was good. I didn’t bother her with any of this because I know “she can’t fix this” so why bother her. I wouldn’t recommend this place at these prices. It is definitely in the “won’t be coming back” category.
Friday night, a little past 8 pm, there was a 5 minute wait for a party of 3, no problem. 30 minutes at the table finally get drinks and bread 45 minutes food order gets taken, and the waitress kept apologizing for some issue with the computer and the manager?? Food finally comes buffalo wrap with sauces on the side and two burgers, burgers good, but the wrap they forgot the buffalo and no pickles in it two old tenders tough as nails ugh so simple. Almost 2 hours for late dinner. My son used to work here. I won't be going back anytime soon as it's going downhill. Maybe it's better earlier.
Last time I visited, I got the thinnest steak I've ever seen. This time I ordered a chicken pot pie. With a side of cheesy broccoli, it totally hit the spot. I kept looking for the bottom crust... But not disappointed. Great service, cold beer. I'm happy. We'll be back
I'm a very picky person and my family hates going out to restaurants with me because of it. Last night was my first time at the Port Charlotte location. We made reservations online and when we got there we only had to wait maybe 15 minutes to get seated. Our party of 7 was seated at a booth which made it a little tight so we had a chair put at the end of the table so we don't elbow each other while eating. Also squeezing my pleasantly plump body in the booth was a tad uncomfortable. I mean, who wants to see your roll bulging onto to the table? OK I'm being a tad dramatic BUT come on plus size ladies, it's not that comfortable. Anyway, I ordered a burger well done and it came out exactly how I ordered it. Baked potato was a little on the salty side and overcooked but it was edible. Everyone loved their food and had no complaints. Drinks were refilled in a timely matter. Now let's talk about our server. Charity was one of the best servers I have had in a long time. Very friendly and very professional. Hopefully the next time I go there we get her again. For anyone saying anything negative, give them time to adjust and get it perfected. They are still new and just remember. Earth wasn't built in a day! ????
P.S. I'm giving 4 stars because of the booths. I wish they were more comfortable for all shapes and sizes. ❤️
