1st timer. LOVED everything! Service was superb. Clean place w pleasant atmosphere. Fantastic burgers & fries, soup, fried fish, French toast and more. We will be back.
We stopped in with friends when spending the night in Galena and fell in love with the place. They weren't particularly busy for a Saturday morning and we were sat quite quickly. The water was both friendly and quick to answer any questions we had about the menu. I ordered a skillet and my wife an omelet and they both were delicious. Well proportioned breakfasts with numerous sides to choose from. Our friends had similar dishes in addition to biscuits and gravy on the side. The establishment was well lit, beautifully decorated, and manned with numerous friendly employees. We loved our time here and would greatly recommend it to anyone looking for a quick and delicious meal.
I loved the food, menu options, and the fresh atmosphere at Charlie's Place. I heard so many positive things from neighbors about Charlie's Place and I certainly wasn't disappointed. I tried the Vegetarian Skillet and my husband had the Gyro Skillet and we both loved our meals. Our meals were served hot and they were very flavorful. The coffee was excellent and the wait staff made sure my coffee was frequently topped off. Wait staff was friendly and provided excellent and quick service.
Stopped for breakfast here on a recommendation from a coworker. I am so glad I ate there. It's a really nice looking place on the inside. My waitress was very cordial, and offered excellent service. I ordered the Polish sausage skillet, and added jalapeños and gravy (per waitress offering), and wheat toast. They don't skimp on anything. The bread for their wheat toast came from a quality loaf of bread (like Brownberry?). I don't think I've ever seen so much food in a skillet. And it tasted fantastic, as you could tell everything was nicely seasoned. As a fat guy, I was surprised that I had half the skillet left when I was full. I don't typically have leftovers, and what was leftover is more than a skillet at most other places. I will definitely be back.
Great big portions of food. Service was excellent. They have a very friendly staff. The ambiance is perfect. Coffee was good and breakfast was delicious, my eggs were done just the way I like it. Very clean and fast service. There is always someone from their staff coming around filling up your coffee along with asking us if we need anything else. Clean bathroom. A lot to choose from their menu. My bacon was cooked to perfection nice and crispy. Tables were clean. Kudos!!! I found my new place to eat breakfast when I am in Galena Illinois. Thank you.
We are just back from two days in Galena, and we have found this new gem of a dining location. It is only six month’s old, but this place is really amazing. It is a family-owned eatery and six of us ate there at noon. It serves breakfast and lunch with nice variety. The owner (Charlie) welcomed us and his wife was our server. Both were so friendly and accommodating. We ordered a variety from the menu ranging from classic eggs, bacon and toast to a California Chicken salad, a chicken wrap, a tenderloin sandwich, and a Texas burger (two eggs and bacon on a burger with onion rings.) Everything was terrific and the portions were plentiful. The bloody Mary’s (spicy) and screwdrivers were also really good. Highly recommend this place.
Perfect place for a relaxing lunch in downtown Galena! Large front windows keep you updated on what is happening on Main Street. Food served hot & delicious, and I might add with a smile. Coffee is a bottomless cup & brewed throughout the day. I can best describe the dining room & entire Resturant as bright & clean. Well done Charlie's Place.
Biscuits and gravy omelet was so good!! Pancakes were very fluffy and buttery. Can’t wait to go back and try more menu items
