Nice old school diner. Good service. Good food. We came here looking for a great diner type breakfast/brunch and they delivered! Definitely try out the Italian bread French toast. Delicious! Prices are great too!
Long time Kansas City eatery located in the River Market area. Cool, retro 1960's cafeteria-style decor complete with a lunch counter and neon sign. Inexpensive italian eats, nice waitresses.
This place was fantastic! After finding City Market is busy on a Saturday morning, our family hopped on the streetcar and found ourselves right in front of Cascones - a perfect find! The dining room has a great feel, with lots of Italian flair, family photos. Definitely feels like it runs like a family diner. The staff was very friendly and our waitress had been with them for 30 years and made us feel very welcome. The food was delicious and inexpensive, and I'll warmly remember this place! Highly recommended.
I go here for breakfast quite often, and it's very good. Nice friendly atmosphere, excellent service, and the cooks know what they're doing--the food always arrives properly cooked and hot, and tastes great. Recommend the Italian sausage and eggs, but everything is good.
Quick, reasonably priced good food. Basic diner style but was good and service was good.
Traditional diner atmosphere with a family touch. Italian bread was served before the meal and was good. The Meatloaf was above average, mashed potatoes below average, and custard okay. The fried chicken special looked delicious. Friendly environment and fast service. The bus man was especially nice to everyone and the cook was out greeting customers. The cook brought my baby out a "special dessert", two mini pancakes, which was very sweet of him. I plan to visit again to try the Italian bread French toast.
The key to fine dining are the little things. We made reservations and still waited 30 min. We were not asked if we wanted parmigiana cheese on our salad, our waters were never refilled, my wife’s lasagna was barely warm, they didn’t give us a bag for the take home box. I found their menu lacking. No carbonara, no mussels, and probably most unimpressive no desserts. Unless our waiter just forgot to ask. We went to the Cheese Cake Factory for that. Drove a long way for an authentic Italian meal but left disappointed. I think they have lost the edge and have become just another Americanized Italian restaurant. Sad considering the history of this family.
Get it before it's gone! Closing end of February. Great classic Italian diner reminiscent of the City Market of earlier times. The Italian sausage is amazing and I'll miss this diner when it's gone. Thanks for 90 years in the neighborhood!
