The only problem I had with Carolyn's Southern Kitchen they didn't give me enough napkins LOL food was outstanding
I will admit the food is top tier, I gave it a 3 star because they have poor business management. I made two separate trips to cal city (an hour+ drive), just for them to be closed during their normal business hours. Believe me when I say that the food is worth the trip but due to their poor business skills I would be amazed if they stay in business if they don’t change how they’re running this business. At the very least accommodate their customers who really try to support small businesses such as this one. Good luck to this food joint because you will need it.
I was very impressed with the food. I was never disappointed at all. Carolyn’s was the best. Meeting her in person was very humbling. The flavors were on point and impeccable. I miss Carolyn’s place. Come back PLEASE!
Great food, but does not stick to their posted days open.
Goes weeks without being open, then open as per posted hours for one week, then back to their inconsistent hours.
This place could be a boom if they ran the business more consistent.
If they did, I would give them 5 stars. As of now, I can only award 2.
This is definitely a hidden gem in California City. I live in Tehachapi and this is definitely worth the drive. I had the Catfish that came with two side yams and greens. The food is fresh and made to order. I will be back again soon to try other menu items.
The place is never open Ive lived in cal city for 3 year and I have never been inside ,only once.The time I did go in I was told they ran out of food. I drove up to the place and saw an employee smoking on the side of the building and then without washing his hands he helps a lady carry her food to her car. I will never go back again this is A WASTE OF TIME!
Tried the food yesterday- first time- am so happy I did- best food ever- Had SF Catfish dinner- very reasonable prices-large portions- great addition to our city for places to eat
