Yesterday was my first time coming to this location. The food was very delicious, the portions were more than enough, I will definitely be back! There is one thing they can improve, they need a sign that says you can seat yourself. I assumed you ordered at the counter and got a number, I was flat out wrong and thought I was going to get scolded by the lady at the counter. She rearranged my order and I sat down.
Great place to eat! I definitely recommend this place, took my family out to here and the food was just amazing! Great staff, very welcoming , great environment, the restaurant was so beautiful inside it felt like I was in Mexico!! There are 2 locations in Chicago make sure if you want to dine in you go to the one on 55th street, the 18th street location is just take out ! This was my first time here and I will definitely be coming back ! FYI it’s street parking at both locations so good luck on the weekends!
Decided to try the Carnitas here while visiting Chicago. They were AMAZING! The carnitas are definitely the star of the show but the beans, the nopales and the tortillas were verry good as well. The only thing I wish is that the carnitas were served a little hotter in temperature and the guagamole was bland but the most important part (the carnitas) are to die for!
Since moving to the east coast this year we haven’t had any good Mexican food! We had to travel to Chicago and come eat to Carnitas Uruapan!
The vibe and decor was beautiful. Service upon entering was 5 star.
The food was delicious we got an order of the carnitas, the nopal (cactus) salad, the beans and tortillas.
Different salsas are brought to the table (red and green) along with cilantro, onion, and lime as toppings for your carnitas.

This place is my spot for Carnitas they are the best in town. The place is so warmy and clean along with service (outstanding service). If you are craving some carnitas come over and enjoy.
You have to try the cheese tamales those are my favorites, very tasty or the fried tacos (potato, chorizo with potato or brain) yes i did say brain tacos.
This place is fantastic for dining out! I highly recommend it. I recently took my family here, and the food was absolutely amazing! The staff were incredibly welcoming, and the environment was top-notch. The restaurant's interior was beautifully decorated—it felt like I was transported to Mexico!
There are two locations in Chicago, so be sure to visit the one on 55th street if you want to dine in; the 18th street location is for takeout only. This was my first visit, and I'm already looking forward to returning! Just a heads up, both locations offer street parking, so plan accordingly, especially on weekends.
Carnitas were great. Staff was friendly. Aqua Fresca was tasty.
