Went to Carlos's Cantina and Grill on their first day open at this location. We enjoyed the open atmosphere and expedient service. The value is great and the staff was excellent. Definitely will be back to enjoy again. We really enjoyed the chips and salsa, the hot sauce, the Chili Colorado and the Burrito Caliente.
TL;DR: There's a whole section of the menu for Birria and you should order something from there.
We decided to eat here because we love Carlos's Street Tacos (same owner) and it did not disappoint.
Important for some: they have Mellow Yellow.
The salsa is a little less flavorful than other Mexican restaurants in the area, but it's not bland. It goes well with the chips (thicker style tortilla chips) served there.
We ordered chorizo & queso as an appetizer and it was delicious. The chorizo was rather mild and blended well with the queso.
I ordered the Quesa-Birria although I had trouble picking from the various Birria options. It was, of course, phenomenal. The consome provided with it was a good red color (lots of peppers) and had a strong onion flavor. I only ate half of it and half of my rice (which I poured some of the chorizo & queso over). There was a lot to take home.
My wife had Chicken and Rice. This is the typical chicken cheese and rice and it was delicious.
My daughter devoured her Fajita Chicken Quesadilla. Carlos's knows how to cook fajita chicken well. She also had a Jarritos Naranja (orange) soda with her meal. She loves Mexican sodas.
Overall with a decent tip, appetizer, and a glass bottle soda, we spent $20 per person. And we have plenty of food leftover to take home. Considering we canceled our first visit after hearing there was a 30 minute wait, I'm not surprised the food was this good.
Paragould has one more awesome Mexican Restaurant.
Staff is great.
Music and decor is great.
Food is worth it.
To me. 4 stars is not a bad thing. As an example Taco Bell is 2.
5 starts to me means it is damn good food.
If the service and atmosphere are just eh. But the food is awesome. 5 stars.
So the chips are pretty oily. I'm a glutton for chips.
The guacamole I would not order again. Maybe the avacado was not ripe enough.
Whatever you order get some green salsa on the side.
I recommend tacos.
The birria torta was ???? highly recommend with a side of consóme! Will be back next time I'm in town!
Very nice and easy going atmosphere. This is just a fine step up from the great food truck that we have grown to love. I'll surely plan to dine-in in the near future. The staff I dealt with were very kind and friendly. I'll definitely be back.
Been wanting to try this for awhile and finally did and I loved it!!! Friendly staff and the food was amazing. Will definitely try different options next time the menu is big and too many options to choose from. Even though I had a carry out order the atmosphere and the decor was very appealing and next time I will eat at the restaurant.
We absolutely love Carlo's food trucks ! Now there is a sit down and eat yay ! Our visit was exceptionally great . Food was fresh and hot . The wait staff was very friendly . We are so excited for his new location and this is such a great location . Paragould needed a nice Mexican restaurant .
We're so glad we can have Carlos at an indoor spot now too! It was so nice inside and great food. Also happy they chose downtown near my office. Congrats to them, the place is great.
