If you are reading this, it is probably bc you are looking for Caribbean/Jamaican food. Look no further and just set your gps.
I really can't say enough good things about this place. The food was absolutely amazing and I can't wait to go back and try more things.
Caribbean Sunrise Bakery & Restaurant is a gem of a find for anyone craving authentic Caribbean flavors in North East Florida. I speak from experience and have dined there on and off for four years and it is my go spot for their one of a kind Giant Oxtail with rice and cabbage. The oxtail was tender and flavorful, undoubtedly some of the best I've had in the States. What really elevated the dish was the perfectly balanced sauce that accompanied the oxtail; any less, and it wouldn't have been as outstanding. The meat is sumptuous and delicious!
The Jamaican Beef Patties were another highlight of my meal. They were wonderfully spiced, transporting me to Jamaica with every bite. Though the pastry crumbled a bit, the delicious filling more than made up for it, and I savored every morsel.
To complement my meal, I opted for ginger beer, which was a refreshing and perfect choice. The ambiance of the restaurant added to the experience, with its tropical vibes, yellow hues, and soda biscuits that hinted at the Caribbean.
This is not in the heart of Jacksonville and slightly in the suburb of North Jacksonville. Not hard to find!
Overall, Caribbean Sunrise Bakery & Restaurant impressed me with its flavorful dishes, attentive service, and tropical ambiance. It's definitely a place I would return to without hesitation.
My ox tail was wasn’t flavorful and they were cold. The same can be said about the rice and peas. The cabbage was warm but had a bit too much spice. The waitress was extremely rude to me and other customers. I will not return to the establishment.
Only came to the main st location due to the Edgewood location closing portions or not justified once you pay they will not refund you even if you don’t take the plate of food I knew I should’ve not brought my black behind to another location going off the reputation of my usual spot the energy was not giving but more like hurry up we don’t have everything on the menu On God I promise I will never step foot in here again an just saying this much I feel I am still sparing the main st location. So you been warned to the person that’s reading this don’t mess around a find out. ???????????????????????????????? for $22 this what I get str8 disappointment
The food was pretty good... I was a little skeptical since some reviews question the freshness of the food and consistency of flavor.. I went on a Tuesday and my food tasted fresh. The spice level was just enough to give you a little heat all while still being able enjoy the flavors of your meal... We ordered a curry goat as well as a jerk chicken plate.. The curry goat actually had a decent amount of meat.. I’ve been to places where the curry goat is more bone than meat.. The establishment was clean, food is reasonably priced, and the lady at the counter was very nice... I would eat here again..
Don't waste your time & money Only thing Jamaican about this restaurant is the music...I'm from the island's
Please throw away that old hard chicken. I ordered a jumbo jerk chicken around 8:15P n it was full of rice with hard dry pieces of hard old dried out chicken. It’s not a crime to throw old food out. Never ever will I make that mistake again.
Just had the worst pickup order ever! Jerk chicken had no flavor at all. Plantains were hard and dry and tasteless. Unfortunately I did not find out until I got all the way home to eat it!! Disappointing waste of time and money.
