LOVE THE OX TAIL DINNERS! They cost $30. Phone calls don’t always come easy, and I’m sure it’s cause they are busy. However, if you’re able to make one, do so before going in. I go after 5pm to avoid the early crowds. They have a lot to offer for food. It usually takes 20-25mins for an order to be done. Customer service is cool depending on who taking the order. Love that they have a new way for families that are apart of hardship (domestic,homeless, etc.) to order with their link card. However, they don’t have that info posted anywhere so they ask at the register. Anytime I’m in the area I make sure I get me a dinner. Oh and that sauce, PERFECT!
My experience was an average experience for a spot like this. I was recommended to go to this establishment because they served the “best jerk” in Chicago. The food was decent, the portions were few and the service was once again average. I did not appreciate that since I paid full price, the food did not match the quality or quantity of my purchase. I was given very little rice my, chicken was dry and the shrimp tasted like leather. But the sides were amazing!!
So today September 5 2023… I walked in and placed my order for a jerk nacho. However I get home to eat my food it’s shrimps mixed in with the nacho and chicken….. What if I was a person that’s allergic to shrimp luckily I’m not but what if??? This is crazy. I’ve never had problems with my food ever until now. Please check your food before leaving.
Baby, I can't tell you enough how impeccable the customer service is here at CJP. The young lady voice inflection, enthusiasm is off the chain, every time I go. In the summer there was an older lady and she was the bomb too, polite, carefully take your orders. After a few orders the older lady would just say " hey Nicole, hold on I got you!" The cook put his foot in this. Look at the picture, food fresh, hot, oh and seasoned to perfection. Look at the chicken NOT dried out. It's jerkin for sure! Yes, kiss the chef for me (old school saying).The most important part is the jerk sauce. Today I learned they give the bigger cups, 2oz vs those teeny tiny cups. The sauce is thick not too thick, it's not watery and it taste good. So I bought a couple more to add to my home cooked meals. Yeah they didn't miss with this meal here. Check em out! It's good!
Ordered a whole chicken meal. I got two wings and a chopped chicken. The dressing was cornmeal mush! There was a piece of metal in my peach cobbler.
Update: manager said you should’ve checked your food. We chop our chicken we don’t serve whole chicken parts.
Where do I begin! I've never been to this restaurant before, so I decided to finally try them. I'm so disappointed I can't even describe it! The sweet potatoes are mashed and had no seasoning at all!!! I had to add butter and seasonings 3 times just to be able to eat them. The cabbage is shredded and over seasoned! I had to add sugar to take away some of the salt and I had my own recipe of jerk sauce that I poured over the chicken and the red beans and rice because they were both so overly seasoned and salty, I felt my pressure rising from one fork of red beans and rice. I will definitely not be going there again!!!! EVER❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️PERIOD

Where do I begin. This place use to be one of my favorites but has gone downhill. I insanely keep giving the a try time after time but after this I’m done. Not only was the packaging horrible from my order yesterday but to have missing items and then get smart and snippy about it is insane. The whole cup of jerk sauce I paid almost $10 spilled out everywhere in the bag over containers of food, napkins, etc. The banana pudding I ordered wasn’t in there at all and when I called them about it they said to just request a refund from app although I told them that wasn’t an option for me. I then look at the Jerk Taco I ordered and saw in the container there is a freaking pubic hair. Smdh GROSS. I thought the pink chicken was bad but to have these many mishaps and fails is beyond me. Let’s not even speak on the bad customer service and these people they let answer their phones. I don’t even trust it anymore. Better to make your own food at home if you have to lose out of almost $100 worth of food you can’t even eat smh Wow. Atrocious altogether for the simples fact I asked for the manager and she she they left for the day and didn’t even try to rectify it.
This is my first time ordering from this establishment. I previously tried someone else’s order and I thought it was delicious. However when I ordered the turkey tips it wasn’t that. At first I thought maybe they cut it different than what I seen before. Piece after piece nothing but bone. Never have I ever had turkey tips that had bones. I believe that this may actually be oxtails. I personally won’t ever be back here. Candied yams and peach cobbler is very delicious.
