Best WLM Reviews
Highly recommend. The famous croissants do TRULY melt in your mouth. It was very affordable to eat there. My husband got the Tijuana wings as an entree and said they were crisped perfectly. I got the ribs which came with a salad and their house salad is the same as their also famous same titled California Dreaming Salad which has a house dressing that if I had to describe was like a light honey mustard vinaigrette. It was AMAZING. Topped with ham bacon tomatoes cheese egg and almonds. Only issue, ask for dressing on the side, my salad was swimming in too much dressing. Side note, the salad COMES with a croissant! Wow! I wouldn't have ordered the croissants if I had known, but still, all so affordable. My ribs were not as flavorful as I hoped and I wasn't crazy about the sauce. Eating them as leftovers later tasted better than fresh and they were still good. We got the Apple Walnut Cobbler for dessert and it was to DIE for. When I asked for wet wipes from eating my ribs, they brought out a legit rolled hot towel. So classy! Atmosphere was so nice. Great service. And I'd go back again just for the salad and croissant. 5/5 we got an appetizer, two meals and dessert for under $60. I call that a win.
Was I "dreaming" when I came across this restaurant, that's fifteen minutes away from the bustling "Ocean Boulevard " of Myrtle Beach??? NOT AT ALL!!! I LOVE THIS PLACE!! The architectural rendering, the seating and of course, THE FOOD! Their menu will appeal to "landlubbers" as all of the meat dishes, from burgers to steaks, will satisfy you! The "seafarers" will do good with their seafood platter to the scrumptious shrimp dishes! And their appetizers are " off the hook"! That seafood nachos dish may be the only thing you need to eat, as that special sauce embraces the salmon " cubes" and shrimp, are yours to savor with every bite! And the wait staff are extremely attentive to your needs! I had the pleasure of having "Alexandria" serve me,but when her hands were tied, her fellow workers stepped in with love!! Take a break from the beach and go to "California Dreaming"!!!
UPDATE: They dropped the ball!!! My son came to visit. I was happy to bring him to California dreaming because I had a good previous experience.
But last night I can’t say the same.. consistency of food quality fell. Very unfortunate. I was hoping it would have been the same as I had in the past.
My previous review:
Truly the best chicken strips I have ever had! The California Dreaming salad with house dressing is great as well.
California Dreaming offers a fantastic dining experience with its inviting atmosphere and diverse menu. The restaurant excels in serving delicious American classics, with the prime rib and creamy spinach dip standing out as favorites. The staff is friendly and efficient, ensuring a pleasant visit every time. Whether for a family dinner or a special occasion, California Dreaming consistently delivers great food and service. My last visit I got the shrimp tacos. They were by far the best shrimp tacos I’ve ever eaten. Our waitress was absolutely phenomenal.
This was my first visit as I don’t live in the area, but my parents love this place. The salad was surprisingly delicious. I also had the black bean burger with fries. The fries were really good (although they sat under a heat lamp for a bit and weren’t quite the temperature they should’ve been), and the burger was one of the best black bean burgers I’ve had (again, aside from the heat lamp thing). The only issue was it was not structurally sound - that poor “patty” was crumbling all over the place. My dad and my son both ordered the pork chops with mashed potatoes, and they reported moist, well-cooked and well- seasoned chops.
We went for an early dinner with my dad (I like to poke fun and tell him this is young people lunch and old people dinner). The restaurant was mostly empty which was nice. The interior is welcoming, but those big mirrored walls will throw off your perception of how large it is inside. The staff was nice, and it was pretty neat to be seated near the open kitchen. Only problem with that is we also got front row seats to watch the front of house staff wandering around the kitchen and our food with their long hair swinging all over.
All in all, it was a fine experience. I won’t be jumping to go again, but next time I come up to visit, I won’t protest when mom wants to go get her favorite salad.
WOW, what a great variety on the menu. You have to always get the croissants. Highly recommend the shrimp tacos.
The aesthetic of this restaurant was warm and inviting. We visited near closing time but the staff was friendly and seemed eager to serve us. Everything we ordered was wonderful! I ordered a few specialty drinks from the bar and they were made and delivered quickly. The honey butter croissants were amazing! Very few places actually cook my meat as I request (medium rare) but this was on point! My daughter ordered the ribs and they were excellent as well. Ordered cheesecake to go and it was excellent as well. Very good food for the price. Above average service. We will be returning!
Fabulous, classy atmosphere. Good service and plentiful servings. A great sister restaurant to Carolina Roadhouse in Myrtle Beach. Use the reservation button to minimize the wait time.
