The food was good with large portions, but still felt mildly pricey, however it might be that I'm a cheapskate. I got the chicken Parmesan sandwich. I felt they used too much Parmesan and not enough mozzarella, and the sauce acidity needs to be balanced better. The sauce tasted like almost straight tomato paste.
The porky pizza is fantastic according to my partner.
$8 garden salad had 1 grape tomato and 3 cucumber slices. They were out of green peppers so I asked to sub or add sausage. No sausage in the calzone so it was pretty much olives, onions, and cheese. This is the second time out of three that I ordered something from here and they were out of a topping. Won't be ordering a 4th time. This salad is pathetic.
Caliente has some of the best pizzas around. Their Buffalo chicken pizza is one of my favorites, but their grandma pies are so good too. Natural ingredients and cooked just right. A little pricier for those but you get what you pay for, and man they're delicious. Caliente is my go-to pizza place. Give them a try. And if you already have then you already know.
My boyfriend and I have been wanting to try Caliente pizza for a while and we are so glad we finally did. The pizza was very good and the service was excellent. I didn’t catch our waitresses name but she was very nice and attentive. We will definitely be back!
Having just arrived (flight was delayed) and staying at a hotel in the area, I came here on a Sunday night for dinner… There was only one other patron in the joint when I got there, about an hour before they closed. I sat at the bar and the bartender was helpful and friendly and explained the menu nicely… he also checked on me during my stay.
The food was awesome! I really liked the fries that came with Cajun seasoning and ranch on them… I got a side of their extremely hot sauce, called “Cry to Mama” and that stuff was VERY HOTTTT!!!! But it wasn’t just straight, silly heat, like so many other hot things, it had a very nice, smokey flavor to it too! I am glad I got it on the side though, as I was able to dip my fries in it, rather than deal with having it on all my fries (Tip: Get it on the side!!).
I also ordered their Luca Brasi pizza, as I wanted a little flavor and spice for my pizza. I had been to a Caliente (the one in Sewickley) before, but had a sub, so I never had tried their pizza and I wanted to give it a try. I have to say that the toppings, sauce, and assembly was great… The only issue was the crust was too thick for a hand-tossed-style pizza. They could have knocked off a ¼” of that crust and the ratio of toppings to crust would have been so much better.
Overall – Highly recommend stopping in to a Caliente! This is my second visit to one of their joints and I really liked both!
I have always had an amazing experience at the other Caliente locations I have been to. This location was the exception unfortunately.
The service prior to food being brought to the table was okay, but slower. Once the appetizers were delivered the server failed to check on the table or ask how the food was until the main course was presented. After that, we didn’t see our server until we had been waiting done with our meal and ready for our check.
My pizza was not prepared per my instructions either, which were not complicated any means. The only reason I didn’t give the good one star was because the appetizers were very good. It’s sad though when the appetizers are better than the main course.
The server never came to check up on us. She took our drink order, 15 minutes later we had her return to take our food order when we got our drinks. Then never saw her again until our dinner was up. The pizza wasn’t cooked right and the dough was rubbery and wasn’t cut. All we wanted was a knife to actually cut the slices but the server never came back until it was time to pay.
Go to a better pizza place some place else. If your looking for cocktails, there are cheaper places with better selections. And the Caliente in Monroville is 10,000 times better then this place.
Always AMAZING pizza. Pizza for everyone. The options are endless. Trying something new is definitely encouraged since they have so many different options! Probably one of the best pizza places in the area. Have come back multiple times when I want good pizza.
