Having eaten at most of the Mexican food joints in the Convoy/Kearney Mesa area, I can assure you this is one of the better joints. The food is very flavorful.I got a surf and turf burrito. The service was quick - turnaround time between placing the order and getting my food was about 6 mins which was great as I took a short break from work to get some food. I'll definitely be back! I'll update the menu (as of 10/26/2023) with this review. Enjoy!
Came for the Surf & turf Carne asada fries .... was not disappointed
I ordered a crazy burrito, it was delicious and beautiful on my plate. I love it. It is worth the price. A lot of meat inside and perfect sauce.
The ratings and Daniels video with the size comparison of the food to the canteen lead me to come here. Glad we did, it did not disappoint. Carne asada didn't have gross fat trimmings and the guacamole was plentiful. The daily specials are also helpful when on a budget. Best taquitos we've had in many years. And they actually have pickled carrots. Not many restaurants do that anymore. We will return! Thanks Cali's & Fries, don't ever change!
Best Mexican food ever. I’ve been going here for almost 20 years and the same folks are still there! Favorite thing to get is Carne Asada Fries and a California Burrito with guacamole. Their new coconut horchata is delicious as well!
Pro tip: you can order their Carne Asada fries with a side of tortilla. Best of both worlds.
I came here after wanting to eat something crunchy. I got here and i saw they had potato tacos and roll tacos. I definitely had to try them and they didn't fail me. I got everything on each food item. Keep in mind there is variation to the roll tacos: I ordered 5 supreme roll tacos of chicken. Another item on the menu to try is the Chipotle fries they definitely are delicious!
I have already waited 30 minutes for an Uber eats order of Cali fries and 2 fish tacos their is no other customers in store except for another dasher who is still currently waiting for his order ridiculous! Still waiting
This place shouldn't be hidden in such an unassuming and small plaza. The food was fantastic. I don't consider decor very important in casual places like so nothing much to say there - it was clean and lively. Decent prices, *great* flavor. I don't usually pay much attention to beans and rice but this place does it right. The fish tacos were nice and crispy and the crema was addicting. Good specials, friendly and helpful staff. Worth checking out!
