Such a cute little spot. So much charisma and vibe. Cold brew was STRONG and the vegan empanadas are very good and fairly large. Have to go back to try the vegan chorizo in a burrito. Definately recommend. ????
I finally got a chance to stop at Cafe Tola, and I was not disappointed. I got a creamy, well-balanced coffee latte and great-tasting guava and cheese empanadas. The empanadas were crusty on the outside, with fresh cheese contrasting with the sour taste of the guava. I can not wait to try the other flavors, from sweet to salty. Every employee was very friendly even though they were preparing for the Memorial weekend.
The empanadas are so worth the hype! I recommend the puerco en salsa verde it has beans inside and nopales I believe and it’s so delicious ???????? we also ordered the spinach and ricotta, lechon, and rajas
The tacos are all right I recommend you get the empanadas rather than tacos
The apple empanada was 5/10 the apple was cut to thick for my liking and lacked flavor
This is my second time and specifically this location. The first time I came 6 months ago, I saw barely any vegetarian options..only one savory. However, I decided to give it another try with my husband and this time I found several vegetarian and even vegan options!
The empanadas are worth $6 because they are very good fillings that make you satisfied with 2-3 empanadas if that is the only thing you eat.
Vegetarian -
Black Bean, Plantain & Goat Cheese. It was surprisingly good despite using plantains. The cheese was also a delectable type of cheese that balanced well with the black beans.
Pappas, Poblanos, & Cheese. This was one of the best potato fillings I've had with the right flavors mixed with poblano peppers along with the gooey warm cheese.
Fruit/dessert -
Guava Queso is a delicious balance of fruit and cheese. Good fillings.
Drinks - variety including Horchata with or without espresso. We selected hot Horchata drink.
Service was fast and good. The interior is full of 1980s toys and posters balanced with Mexican colorful decor. This is a great spot for a quick lunch or hang out longer.
Pretty delicious empanadas. I definitely enjoy coming here. I like their options of empanadas and their coffee is pretty good.
Every location is different though, I would say this is one of my favorites.
Oh baby - if I lived closer I think I would eat there every day. As a daily connoisseur of breakfast who gives themselves only seconds of planning... This place is perfect. HUGE selection of empanadas that are hot and ready, and the staff seems to prioritize getting your order wrapped and in your hand before you're even done paying. Very highly recommended!
Now THAT’S an empanada! The flavors were outstanding and a single empanada eats like a meal. I had two and I feel fully satisfied (and I generally have a huge appetite). Thank you Cafe Tola for a wonderful rainy day surprise, we’ll be back!
The orchata latte was really refreshing. The variety of empanadas is really great, very authentic taste. I’d recommend you go check it out if you haven’t.
