I had a procedure done, and the doctor was great. Everything went smoothly until I was admitted for observation. My doctor told me nothing to eat or drink. After I arrived in a room, the staff brought me food. I told them the doctor said I was not to eat or drink anything. They took the food away and verified I wasn't to eat or drink anything. The same thing happened in the morning. Then they told me I could have clear liquids, so they gave me jello and juice grape and cranberry. Then they brought me a luch tray what they called a yellow plate bland chicken white rice and yellow squash. I told them again that I was to have clear liquids. No one talked to anyone about what my care was or how long I had to stay. I was told it was just an overnight observation, and then it turned into a full day. I couldn't eat or drink from 6:30 pm the day before I went in. I wasn't allowed any food until they brought me lunch at 1:30 pm. It was over 27 hours without food or water, and another 4 hours before I was brought something to eat. It took another 3 hours to get released.
Good lord this place is slow. Took someone to ER on a Wednesday evening 1 person in the lobby ahead of us. Person I took had head trauma from a metal plate hitting there head at high speed exposing the skull with a possible concussion. 3.5 hours later they finally call her to the ER examining room. 2 hours later they have her fixed up with 12 stitches. Other than the snails pace of the ER it was clean. The staff was decent not friendly but not rude. Chairs in waiting area of E.R area are very uncomfortable for the amount of time you could potentially be sitting there. There was a free phone charger in the lobby area so that's nice.
Everybody was there was so nice about their job quickly They neurologist outstanding explaining everything everybody was nice walking through everything taking good care of me
Wait times can sometimes be long in emergency room or for appointments for scheduled visits. Staff is most often play pleasant & friendly to interact with.
This is the best hospital you can take a child to. I was in a gas explosion when I was younger and got life flighted there and the staff was incredible. They saved me multiple times and they was so kind and caring to my father. They brought me candy and stuff for Halloween where I had to spend Halloween in the hospital in the burn unit. I'm so thankful for this place and the caring staff especially Carrie if she still works there.
Just to register for blood work took 1 hour. Then up in lab area took 1.5 hours just to have blood drawn. It's always this easy. You need to get more people to work. Totally ridiculous!
Drove 2 hours to get to the Doctor's office and waited in the waiting room for 2 hours only to be put in the patient room for another 30 minutes before we gave up and left with out seeing the doctor! Not happy!
I had to take my wife to the ER at Cabell Hospital this morning for what seemed like COVID signs & symptoms.
Like many in this region, she is in recovery. I have to say, from the time we entered triage until the time we left, all of the staff was more than professional, and for the first time in a long time, my wife was treated with dignity and respect. Not long ago, I'd taken her to the other major hospital on Huntingtons N.W. side, where, on that day, she was treated like a second-class citizen.
Moreover, she left crying, and in my opinion, staff there fell just short of physically assaulting her, trying to collect labs. That's not to say the rest there aren't professional and I would be remiss if I didn't say that.
So CUDDOS to Cabell Huntington Hospitals ER!
You are without parallel and second to none!
