My husband took his car there in Nov 2021 to get his transmission fix. Butch is not a man of his word. He lied to us each and every time we called to check on our car. We got the car back and the car ran worse leaking fluids and not able to get over 55mph. We had him to pick up he did more work got it back a second time and same problem. We sent it back and got it back again and it's still there not fixed Nov 2021 until now car not fixed.and the hood got damage. Front tires off balance. Believe me this not over. But please don't take your vehicle there.Bad for business.
If you absolutely need your car fixed and don't want to pay an absurd price, go here. My engine blew a spark plug that one shop wanted $2000 to fix. These guys fixed it perfectly in a couple hours for $260 - which included the tow from the other shop. Highly recommended.
Butch has been my favorite mechanic for years. My father used his services until he died. He has always been honest and fair with his prices. I even recommended him to my family and friends.
Butcher is the ONLY mechanic my husband and I have taken our transmission problems to. We've been going to Birch since our son was 2 years old and will be 26 this year. We ALWAYS refer friends and family to Butches.
He's the best man for the job. Now our son can do auto mechanics including transmissions. Wish he could work there but it's a long drive from Gates, NC.

I've been brining my truck and car to Butch's Auto for several years. I've always received great service, straight answers and reasonable prices on repairs. When I've had breakdowns as far away as Williamsburg, it's worth towing my vehicles to Butch's to make sure they get fixed right the first time.
Don't let the humble appearance of the lot and repair shop fool you - this is a family owned & operated business that's more worried about the work they do for customers than they are about keeping everything "pretty." Few other mechanics have done so much to earn my trust or my business - they've got a customer for life!
Over charged me and also stole my very expensive battery I just put in my car and replaced it with old one. Would not recommend.
I would've given it 0 stars for horrible service and shady business but, Google wouldn't let me. My roommate took his car here because it was overheating. When he went to pick the car up, he was told that they changed the tire and he would need an additional $200 (Yes, for 1 tire). When he told them to put the old tire back on, he was told there were holes in it and besides, being that they already put the tire on, they can't take it off. When he advised that 1) the holey tire they were claiming was his, wasn't and 2) there were no holes in the tire when the car was dropped off, the serviceman proceeded to call the police. He also stated "MLK day is for your people not mine", when asked if the shop would be open on Monday. My roommate told him, that doesn't make any sense, however, when the police arrived he said roomie was irate and had called him a racist... None of that was true. Anyway, the "new" tire that was put on the car didn't exist. Butch's took the$200 and left the original tire up there... The tire that didn't have any holes in the first place. No, this isn't hearsay, I was on speaker the whole time. DO NOT service your vehicle here. There's no telling how many people have been caught in Butch's bait and switch.
Butch is a great guy who does great work for a fair price. Would definitely recommend him to my friends and family
