We were traveling to Monroeville for the release of "Go Set a Watchman ". Made online reservations and arrived late in the evening. This property is very dated which added to the ambiance of our trip. This is the same motel that Gregory Peck stayed in when he visited Monroeville to understand the character that he was to play in the film "To Kill A Mockingbird ". They have maintained the property. I had low expectations and was pleasantly surprised. The property was clean and well supplied. It's not a four star motel however with the age of the property it is what I would describe as historied. The room was small and the linens fresh (sheets and pillow cases ) the comforters old and rough. The pillows small, the bathroom linens were cheap. I will say this the room was better than expected and served our needs. (A place to sleep for a few hours). It is also the closest to the downtown area sites. Do go and expect to compare this location with a recently built full accommodation hotel. This it is not. Go and stay here and enjoy the area. The air conditioning worked very well!!!|
Oh my, where to start. When I went to check and the guy barely opened the sliding glass to take my card. That didn't give me a warm and fuzzy feeling to start. I was left with the impression that there must be some seedy people who check into this motel.||I get to my room open the door and the room smelled awful. I couldn't put my finger on the smell because I've never smelled that scent before. ||This motel was straight out of the 40's-50's. There were no outlets next to the bed. The nearest outlet was all the way across the room. I had to go to Walmart and purchase a 12' extension cable so I'd have power on the night stand. My next surprise was waiting in the bath room. First thing I noticed was a brown stain on the top of the toilet seat where someone had wiped and missed. Looking for the light switch I was horrified to see it was practically IN the shower. Glad I brought my flipflops to wear in the shower. ||By now I'm pretty grossed out and I'm afraid to sit on the bed. I pull back the cover and there you have it. Hair on the pillow cases. I was so afraid to slide under the covers. I didn't mention I bought a bottle of wine while at Walmart to be able to drink myself to sleep. ||No I will never stay here again. Now I know to pay $20.00-$30.00 more so I don't feel like I'm staying somewhere short of a hostel.||I never could get a reliable WIFI connection so I had to use my phone as a hotspot.||My final thoughts. This place is dirty, it smells awful. It has now modern outlets and has a light switch practically in the shower. ||How the hell this place passes code I'll never know. ||The city of Monroeville should condemn this motel and/or bulldoze the property. ||Don't stay here unless you're used to staying at hostels. 3.3 is too high a rating. If I could give it -0 I would. I feel disgusted that I stayed here.

The room was very inexpensive, so we expected the minimum as far as amenities - and that was fine. You couldn't beat the price. The bathroom needed a bit more cleaning. It wasn't a super busy time when we went there, so it could have just been that it had been a while since it was cleaned. The beds were a bit hard, but overall it was OK, especially for a one night stay. The owner was nice.
Owner absolutely rude and disrespectful and attitude as nasty as the roach infested rooms. Gone have the nerve to tell me to take my trash to the trash bins as if I work here. Room are already over priced.. $60 a night didn't know I had to pay the roaches way to.1 star too many but only way to write a review
THEY DESERVE ZERO STARS! I DO NOT RECOMMENDED! THIS PLACE NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN FOR ITS DEPLORABLE CONDITIONS! IT'S INFESTED WITH ROACHES! LITERALLY A ROACH MOTEL! PAY MORE AND GO TO ANOTHER HOTEL!
My daughter and I were in Monroeville for the evening and didn't expect to have to stay but due to a bad storm we did. I wanted someplace safe and cheap. It was an older motel but clean and felt safe. The owners are on premises. Don't know if it's true butt I also read that was the motel that Gregory Peck stayed when he visited Monroeville before filming To Kill A Mockingbird. I would stay there again.
We stopped here on our way to Mississippi. We were immediately impressed by the clean, tastefully decorated rooms, and courteous customer service at check in. The room was quite spacious and quiet despite the hotel being full. We would proudly stay and recommend to others. Will see you on way back!!
