Brown's is THE BEST BBQ/ SOUL FOOD little hole-in-the-wall place in these deserts! We were so lucky to find this place on Google during a recent road trip to Palm Springs. I read a handful of reviews and immediately entered the location in my GPS app. What a great find! I had the catfish with yams and greens and everything was absolutely delicious! He had the ribs which were also amazing. When we first pulled up, we weren't sure we were in the right place because it looked run down and abandoned but we did see a couple other cars so I decided to take a look. Thankfully, it was open but when we walked inside he nearly turned around to walk back out but I got him to stay. When I say "hole in the wall"....this is a very old and tiny place but you will not be disappointed if you stop here. The service is great, almost like you're being welcomed to a family meal. It does appear to be a family business and we love giving our business to black and small businesses. This is one we will never forget.... we will definitely be back!
Ordered the Fried Chicken dinner with mac and cheese, greens, corn bread, as well as the jumbo shrimp with fries. Everything was delicious and cooked to perfection. Limited seating so might be best for take-out. Can’t wait to go back and try more!
Small hole-in-a-wall with the most delicious fried catfish, jumbo shrimp, fried wings, and mac&cheese. Absolutely love this place and a must go when in Palm Springs
Cool little barbecue spot with really good soul food it was the best place we found in Palm Springs for fried chicken fried shrimp and all of those good things they had phenomenal greens and beans and rice and the shrimp was really good. Great yams too! Really good service when we pulled up they instantly got our order it's kind of hard to see the restaurant we almost pulled away it's a little dingy thing in between two other places so you have to park and get out of your car to find it in the middle
We have been wanting to try this place for a while. Drive by it all the time. It's located in a residential/industrial area. You can pass it easily if you're not watching. The place is very small and an old building to boot.
First, let me start off by saying we had really high hopes and expectations for this place. We ordered ribs and hot link lunch specials. This came with potato salad and beans. The potato salad was basic and good. The beans however were a disappointment. They tasted liked canned beans with seasoning and sugar added. Very sweet! Tasty indeed, but I expected more.
The ribs were flooded in sauce, but didn't really taste like they were smoked. Another disappointment. They were tender, but again didn't meet my expectations. The hot links were also flooded with sauce, but tasted like the brand I buy from the market. Nothing great about these. They were spicy! Barbecue sauce was good, but nothing spectacular.
We have been to some great barbecue places in different states. Maybe our expectations were too high. Maybe it was because it was Labor Day weekend, and they were not ready for it. Lots of people ordering a brisket sandwich, but they were out of that and tri tip sandwiches. It was alright, but nothing spectacular. Prices were reasonable. Try it for yourself.
Brown's BBQ Soul Food is a hidden gem in Palm Springs! Their flavorful fried chicken is perfectly seasoning, crispy and so juicy. The side dishes at Brown's BBQ Soul Food are just as amazing as the fried chicken! They offer a variety of classic Southern sides like collard greens, mac and cheese, cornbread, and baked beans. Each side is made with love and packed with flavor. It's the perfect complement to your meal.
I’m recommending you to call and order ahead for take out, the atmosphere is a bit old and not somewhere you can sit and comfortable enjoy your food.
Thank goodness for Google maps and reviews. We never would have found this hidden gem without it!
We called ahead to place our order which was a great time saver. Unfortunately, they were out of most of the things we wanted to order - but what they had…amazing!
Cornbread was moist, the fried chicken was amazing! The fried shrimp was the best I’ve ever had. Perfect breading.
We had the delicious mac and cheese and the collard greens.
Very reasonably priced and 10/10 worth a visits!!
Everything is wonderful. I had the fried chicken wings. They were light, crispy, and not at all greasy. Entrees are cooked to order so you have to wait but it wasn’t long.
The sides are delicious with generous portions. I don’t eat red meat, but the friendly and helpful staff told me which ones I shouldn’t order.
There are only 4 tables but I was the only customer at lunch on a Thursday.
