Very impressed with the staff and organization of this hospital. My daughter had a procedure yesterday morning and we didn’t even get to sit down before we were called back. Even though construction is going on, everything was handled smoothly. The doctors, anesthesiologists, and nurses were ready for her; there was no waiting. In the Surgery Waiting area for the families is a large screen telling the family when the patient is in the Operating Room, in Recovery, and Ready to go. Free coffee is set up there on a cart for the families waiting as well as a large TV. We were so well cared for that the time flew by. This is not my first time I have had a family member at Brookwood Hospital and I find it very accommodating whether in the main hospital or their Women’s Center. The Valet Parking makes it easier to get in to see your loved ones!
My husband was in iCU for 7 days. I can’t even begin to tell you how great it was , the nurses all were excellent in every way except maybe 1. Holly was in icu his nurse. If you only had more like her. She was caring , took care of his needs right away. 10 star on icu unit and nurses
Well then we were moved to 4 th floor (Dr wanted him on 2) heart patient. No rooms so it was off to 4th. The worst floor either one of us have even stayed on in any hospital and I am 63 and been in alot of hospitals. The nurse barley could speak English , rude , I tried to help by going to nurses station to get ice ( his nurse knew this ) one at desk rude. Next time ring your buzzer. Well there are times you ring buzzer and want see anyone got 1-3 hours. Housekeeping all ways nice and friendly , I know everyone is short handed but this is in all for I am about to tell our Dr he can take us back to Grandview. Brookwood is going doing hill on the nurses caring , place has been let go. Couple of bathrooms were nasty got days
All Drs were excellent in every way but for sure nurses need some training or either new ones

Would give 0 stars if possible. They thought my appendix was rupturing and almost went through with surgery when I only had food poisoning, they kept me in the hospital for 3 days only allowing me to have liquids and then proceeded to bill me multiple times totaling to 7,000+ dollars then proceeded to send it to debt collectors despite me paying it all because THEY got the wrong diagnosis. Not to mention the treatment was terrible, as I was being discharged a nurse took my iv out and left me with only some tissue and left the room as my blood spilled onto the floor for minutes until a cleaning lady came in and ran to get help which didn't come for several minutes as I bled out, when "help" came it was only two doctors who stood by and watched me bleed as they talked to me about what actually happened. DONT COME HERE EVER.
I will not bring my mother back to this hospital!!.My mother is here now. But won't be for long!!!! I had Enough with trying to get doctors to talk to me. My mother was on a bed pan more the 2 hours. And she was laying on it she got mad and tried of waiting for the nurse the throw the bedpan on the floor..that the second time she was left like that. The first time I was in the room with her. When the nurse came and turn off the call button and walked out leaving my mom there.. we waiting for 20 minutes for the nurse to return but never did. I had to find a nurse to help..and the mess up part is she in SICU. . The nurses messed up twice about her food and forgot to feed her... the first time it happen a night nurse had to find her something to ear for supper. And the second it was lunch time and she wasn't feed until 5. Because the nurse forgot..I have been in the hospital since Friday. I have never left. And I won't leave until my mother does. I told her doctor if my mom's not in a room where I can be with her 24 hours then she's leaving this hospital tonight. I have had Enough with this hospital.. .....No one came and spoke with me . My mom was put on the the 2nd floor. What's the deal with moving a patient from one bad from to another?? 17 minutes for someone to come and check on my mother after she puch the call button.. I ask the tech does it always take this long and she said what do you expect someone to come sooner.. I have called St.Vincent about moving my mother to their hospital.. I will make a report to her insurance about what has happened with her stay here.
Going to have to revise the following review. While everyone was as helpful and kind as I said below. One BIG problem...when I went to have my procedure done today??? These same people at Brookwood told the Dr that the problem I had was in the left leg when it was in my right!!!! WHAT?!?! The Dr had to do the procedure bilaterally in other words left and right leg so that he actually got the correct leg! Your fired! You don't deserve a raise!!
I had an MRI and an X-ray. It was my best experience on both due to 3 people. Heather did my MRI. She was so sweet to me. She took the time to explain where my sacroiliac joint is. Who knew? ????
Carrie and Melanie did my X-ray. Super quick and professional. Quickest one in my 64 yrs!????
Thank you for helping me and being so kind, all of you ????
I think y'all deserve a raise!
What can I say... our loved one has had the best of care here and, at times, the most mediocre. They were not adequately staffed for the Christmas holiday season. Adequate holiday staffing is an issue that should be addressed and assessed immediately.
It's disheartening to have a loved one in need of some basic care... I'm not talking about anything above and beyond, just basic, and it takes a nurse or a nurses aide soooooo long to attend to a patient.
I have a friend Carlos who has a history of colon cancer and required an annual colonoscopy. Carlos came out of the outpatient endoscopy building in a wheelchair with his two front teeth in a styrofoam cup. No doctor, no nurse offered an explanation. What added insult to injury was the games played by the patient reps. Initially calls were handled professionally with promises to get back to him (they never did), then calls went to answering machines. Carlos was never compensated for his teeth. It took him a long time to save the money to have his teeth repaired. Carlos is Spanish speaking, but fluent in English. I guess they figured he was an illegal alien and they didn’t have to worry about him. I am still livid when I think of Brookwood Hospital.
Before, during and after my surgery at Brookwood Hospital I was taken such good care of by there staff on Medical Center Drive. Dr. Rookis is an excellent urologist and put my worries at rest.
