The restaurant is in The Harraseeket Inn which is a very nice older hotel with unique architecture.
The food was very good. My friend had the whole lobster. It was our last night in town so she had eaten lobster 4 other days but said this was by far the freshest & best tasting. We also really enjoyed the blueberry pie.
We parked behind the Inn where there was a lot of parking. There may have been parking on the side too.
I have been a happy customer of the a Broad Arrow Tavern for many years. However last year the Inn was sold and the Tavern is now under new management . My husband and I were on a weekend trip to Maine and were shopping in Freeport and hungry. I told my husband let’s go to the Broad Arrow , you always get a great meal there! Unfortunately I was very disappointed ! New menu, which sounded good , but the food was very subpar for the cost. The lobster stew USED to be to die for. Today ….nope! It sucked! No chunks of lobster tail , no creamy buttery broth. Just some brown milk with a bitter taste for $24 dollars a bowl . The lobster in the bowl was ok but not like before. ????
We also ordered seafood pasta which was supposed to be shrimp, scallops and lobster in a lobster cream sauce. We got baby shrimp, bay scallops( the tiny scallops) and very few pieces of lobster with LOTS of pasta and the SAME brown broth that was in the lobster stew! Now I consider my self a pretty good cook and if I were serving that dish that cost $38 a plate I would have prepared a nice rich cream sauce similar to Alfredo sauce with bits of lobster meat in the sauce . Put in large shrimp, sea scallops , and chunks of FRESH lobster ! There were no rolls or bread to the table any more either . Just a very disappointing meal! I had my last meal at the Broad Arrow Tavern! I miss the old way the food was prepared . It was a top shelf restaurant before the new owner took over ! The meal we had tonight was bottom shelf. We left hungry and had to go out for ice cream to fill up !
We decided to make our first visit to Broad Arrow to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary and had the best lunch ever. We had oven roasted muscles, grilled scallops, and duck breast. Be sure to dip your bread in the muscle broth, it is addictive. Everything was prepared to perfection and the side dish was as delicious as the main. Dessert was a blueberry and peach crisp that was to die for. I honestly can't say that I've had a better meal. The decor is rustic outdoors which is perfect for Maine. The tavern has a fireplace in the middle of the room and a wood-fired oven in the kitchen making the atmosphere delightful. Our server was friendly and attentive considering we came in at the tail end of a busy lunch crowd. I will definitely visit again the next time I'm headed to LL Bean down the street.
Lobster fettuccine had spinach and tomatoes in the sauce. The noodles were extra wide (double) but was very enjoyable. My wife said her haddock was very good. Great place. Excellent for entertaining. Extensive selection of beers. Just loved the place. Highly recommend.
Celeste was a great server! The garden area outside is nice. The lobster rolls we were served should have never left the kitchen. Microwaved? Stored overnight and re-heated? I don’t know how it would dry out so fast as to be chewy and crunchy at the same time. We each took a bite and then regretted immediately. The restaurant did not charge.
Overall it's good but the staff is not very friendly. Stayed at the hotel for a week and went to the restaurant twice.
The first time the waiter was not friendly and seemed like we were bothering him being there. The second time the waitress practically ignored us. We had to ask another waitress get ours bc we wanted another glass of wine. We had to ask several times to get her to come out once. You'd think the other waitress we keep asking would have just gotten us a glass at that point.
Food is pretty good. Fish on several dishes on both nights was over cooked. Fish tacos were great tasting otherwise and sweet potato fries were good. Good portion size for tacos and Reuben sandwich. However the bread in too much bread for the sandwich, lots of meat and the bread tastes good though. Burger was overcooked. I guess the biggest bad thing to say is the protein is always overcooked.
The restaurant/bar does close way too early though so I'd just as soon go someone better.
Nice fire pit you can enjoy after your meal while you finish a drink or have another from the bar. You can get it inside and drink it out there.
I stopped here for some food on an early Wednesday afternoon. The entrance to this restaurant is through the hotel it is attached to. Wasn’t too busy at the time.
The inside has a bar and a table area. I opted to be seated outside as it was a nice day. The outside patio has a few tables with a nice small garden surrounding you from the street. There is a large overhanging tent which protects you from too much sunlight. Because of the angles of the building, the garden, plus the tent this is actually a low breeze area. It can get very warm here.
I was attended to quickly and the waitress was friendly and amicable.
I had one beer, the Freeport seasonal. I believe it was a bitter pale ale and I found it to be quite tasteful.
For my entree I had the Tavern bacon cheeseburger with fries. The food was great and I would definitely revisit.
Fantastic food and top torch service. The steak I had was perfectly cooked and the lobster roll was excellently crafted. To find the restarant you can park in the hotel’s lot, enter in the back doors, head up the stairs, take a left and walk down the hallway next to the front desk. A bit complicated, but that’s because the restarant itself is inside the hotel. Overall we had an excellent meal.
