Drive thru service was good, staff was friendly, but If you’re looking for traditional home cooked-like soul food this is not it. Food was subpar at best. Canned green beans with no seasoning whatsoever, canned yams disguised as sweet potatoes and boxed Mac and cheese, again with no seasoning. I don’t mind canned veggies but they could have at least spruced them up.
Best thing in my order was the corn bread and cake. Be advised the Carmel cake portion I received was a tench of a corner and not worth the cost, however it was good. They are known for the buttermilk pie, but was sold out. Skip the meal and go for the dessert if you desire a sweet treat.
I love going here, very personable, poliet, food and service is excellent. This is my highlight for travelling to Springfield. It is a soulfood place and the walley fish, sweet potatoes, mac n cheese and greens and sweet tea my favorite. All of their food is excellent and and their sweet potatoe pie that the Mom make, i ate my piece and hers. I tried not to do it. Try them when in springfield, they close at 3pm and uaually not open on the weekends but if you get a group they will open for you. Give them a try.
My family and I absolutely love this place! Great food! However I ordered online and waited in drive thru 35 minutes for food. I waited the time they said it would take plus an additional 35 minutes. There has to be a better way after you take people’s payment online and then hold them hostage to get their order for an unreal amount of time
I am from Louisiana so we do a different take on Soul food. A traumatic event brought me to Springfield for a month or so,but I was very glad I stumbled on this place.I was very skeptical about eating from restaurants in the area , but I e tried and it disappointed me. Boyds did not disappoint at all. Everything was delicious from there gave me a feel of the Louisiana Soul Food. My favorite was the Smothered Liver. I am back home and I still crave it. A must try for anybody wanting quality good tasting food.
Great place to get soul food. I found out about Boyd’s and been eating there ever since. No fr it’s that good.

This was absolutely delicious I ate this in like 10 minutes lol. Everything was hot and fresh even my Carmel cake was fresh and warm. It was soo yummy and my tummy I started crying as soon as I took a bite. I live in Decatur but I’m bringing my husband and kids up here soon just to come try this delicious place.
