Kids are fascinated with airplanes. We always take our grandkids to see airplanes at small regional airports to further create interest which can be a doorway to STEM learning.
We went to see Bowling Green - Woodhurst Airport which has a very well maintained terminal building and amazing kid-friendly airport staff. This is just not the travel hub, but massive learning lab for the kids who can watch planes taking off and landing, pilots, runways, other parked planes etc - it’s a kid’s wonderland.
We were welcome and let us into the area where planes parked. One of the gentlemen let us saw his plane from inside.
I think the airport should add outdoor play area - a sort of outdoor park cum observation deck with interactive displays and games that teach kids all about how planes fly, an education with entertainment.
Some people wonder why small airports are important for common people who don’t use them. But small airports bring economic prosperity to local community by bringing businesses and tourism, which is good for everyone.
Loved being able to walk in and watch planes land and take off. Got to watch my brother land and I got to walk right up to him and explore the private jet he flew on!
This is an excellent airport! The self serve fuel is very convenient and the FBO is super nice. Bathrooms are clean, seating is comfy, and they had fresh coffee along with a high quality assortment of hot tea. The weather briefing room is very nice as well.
Our favorite spot to take the grandkids to watch the airplanes take off and land. The fascination never gets old!
Watch it in Bowling Green you will get ran over if you don't watch everyone always in big hurry no patience
