From m the first step out of the car it reminds me of the Mom and Pop shops of old. The ones I grew up with that are all but a thing of the past. Simple store and restaurant. Simple but great food made with fresh ingredients. The price was great. Definitely recommend if your staying at the campground or just planning a day trip to the lake.
my family loves eating at Boondocks Grill . it's a tradition every time we go camping & boating at Clinton lake state park. the food is absolutely tasty must try the ice cream, and French fries ???? yummy need a place to relax unwind beautiful views of the lake while you're eating.
A great place to pick up a bite to eat if you’re spending time in the park and/or on the lake! I stopped in and grabbed a BBQ Pork sandwich. It was absolutely delicious and came with a very generous amount of meat! This was my first visit here and the person running the restaurant was very patient and accommodating as I asked several questions before placing my order. I took my sandwich outside and ate it on one of the nearby benches, giving me an opportunity to enjoy the beautiful setting around this cove.
Loaded dock fries were phenomenal! Very nice people and great prices!
The food is very good and the staff have to be the nicest people on planet earth. But the wait is so long every time of day. Like if 8 people are ahead of you it’s a 30 minute line wait and a 35 minute food wait. But there was live music, the onion rings were incredible as was the soft serve. The cheeseburger was so fresh and hot off the grill. Bottom line: food and people are top notch but don’t be in a hurry.
Great food as always, unfortunately the older woman working yelled and slammed the window in our face when we asked to make sure that we had everything, as she handed us our food that had been sitting to the side. We’ve always loved Boondocks and understand wait times, especially on a busy holiday weekend, we just truly didn’t understand how our small order had gotten lost. We had 2 sandwiches and an order of fries. There were 4 families (2 families of 4, and 2 families of 2) that had walked up to order large quantities of food at least 10 minutes after us, we patiently waited while they all received their meals, and we gave it more time. Another customer even commented “weren’t you guys the only ones standing here when I walked away 40 minutes ago?” As we had been the only customers behind him and his wife, and he had come back to order more. We never complain, as we have both worked in food service, but my husband did ask to make sure our order had been put in. One of the gentleman waiting heard my husband ask and said “you guys were up here waiting already when we all came up.” The older woman working came back to the window asking our name, came back with the wrong order, then came back a third time asking what we had ordered. When we started to tell her what we ordered, she handed us a bag of food that had been in plain sight for the past 20 minutes, sitting out on the counter. We asked to make sure that we had everything, asked for ketchup packets, and began to state that is why we wanted to make sure our order had actually been put in; the older woman working then proceeded to throw the ketchup packets into our bag, yelled “Why don’t you come in here then!” And slammed the window shut in our face and walked away. The 2 women and their children sitting down eating at the picnic tables were witness to this and said “Wow, that was uncalled for.” It was a very unfortunate experience at a place that we have always loved, especially waiting for over a 50 minute time frame at that point. We frequent the beach nearly every weekend and Boondocks has always been a favorite part of our experience. I know they will have plenty of returning customers so it really won’t matter that we will no longer utilize this restaurant, but the older woman was extremely unprofessional. It is very sad that this is how customers are treated.
Loved it. We had the chicken strips, a tenderloin and mushrooms. They were pretty busy when we were there and the girls in back were working nonstop. Good was really good and the staff were friendly. We would definitely go again!
Very good lakeside food. While they can get very busy with long waits for your food, they do allow you to call in orders and give an expected time frame which is perfect since I'm fairly impatient. We call in orders while boating, head over at the time they tell us, and it is always just finished!
