We went on a Friday night and it was a nice vibe. There was a live band playing and it wasn't too loud but just right. Was a party of 6 of us and the food came out quickly and everything was great. We all had different sauces and spice levels but when we each tried someone else's we couldn't decide which sauce was the best. Our waitress really checked in on us to make sure we were good and took care of all request quickly. I'll definitely come back to this location.
Hands down very good food, however, the service is just trash.
We waited for about one hour just to be seated (you might have said it was packed, nope, it had a party going on and they had 4 or 5 tables occupied out of all the tables.)
Once we sat down, we waited for about 25 min if not more so they could take our order.
About 30 min later we kind of got our food. The portions are small (for the price you pay) and we got the food at very different times and I didn't even get to see my food (aka they forgot about my dish).
We spent a total of 3 and a half hours just to get a "meal".
The restaurant had dancing music going on and it felt more like a club than a restaurant. There were people twerking on the floor and people dancing on top of the table. I don't feel like the environment was family friendly unless you and your family are into club restaurants.
Perhaps, not for me or just not the right night. For a Saturday evening, it leaves lots to wish for.
Boil Bay is one of the best, if not the best seafood restaurants in the RVA area. Barbara was our waitress and she was a delight! Very kind, attentive and offered great suggestions. The music was a 10 out of 10. I was singing so much Barbara told me I should come back for Karaoke on Wednesday nights. My husband had fish and sweet potato fries, which were delicious. I had a $28.99 combo with all shrimp, heads off in mild garlic butter & lemon sauce, which was also delicious. Their mild was quite zesty (I can’t handle any spice) but still good, I just required extra water, which Barbara kept coming. The food literally was out within 15 minutes. If you like bread then you’ll love their hush puppies too. My only compliant is you have to pay a $2 up charge to hate shrimp without their heads attached. Great experience! Hopefully you’ll get Barbara, must waitress ever!
One of your typical Seafood Boil spots. Nothing really stood out at this spot except for the coconut shrimp. Those were good. Hands down! I would come back and try some other dishes just so I can get the full experience. Our waitress provided good customer service and the atmosphere was pleasant. Definitely give this place a try.
Happy Hour has me spoiled! Always a quick lunch! Sips on point with great service. ????????
I went to dine in for dinner and it was really good! I got the combo boil with snow crabs, shrimp, and clams with the mild boil bay seasoning. The corn is always my favorite part and it was cooked perfectly! I ordered the pain killer drink and the passion fruit margarita. The margarita wasn’t that strong but it was still good. I didn’t get the waitress name but she was nice and attentive.
Boil bay don’t owe me nothing. Food was delicious and wait time was very lowww. Our waiter Destiny was sweet. It was sooo much food , could barely finish it.
The food was pretty good but I wouldn't come back. First of all 45 minutes wait with a reservation, once we get inside there's three, yes 3 tables occupied.... 10 mins later they take our order and 45 mins later our food shows up. I don't know if it was an honest mistake but we ordered shrimp, we didn't get it but got double charged on the bill. No one checked on us while dinning even though there were more servers than customers. We had one drink because we tried to order more but no one came over. The food was nicely seasoned, small portions but tasty overall. If you can pass the terrible service, the food is not bad. Would recommend picking up, order with plenty of time in advance.
I can understand the slow service in a full restaurant but in an empty one...
