We had a mixed communication that resulted in our order not being ready when we arrived. I called the restaurant when we got home and spoke to the general manager, Megan. She was super apologetic and so very eager to make things right. She went above and beyond and beyond and beyond to fix the issue. We love Bob Evans. The food is wonderful and we always order the holiday meals from them. Megan has secured us as customers forever. Again, she went way beyond what she had to do to make us happy. Please be kind to her. She is definitely someone you want to keep.
My wife and I stopped to have breakfast before seeing a movie. I'm so glad we did. We immediately were seated at a table by a wonderful hostess named Audrey. Our server was Marcey. She was fantastic. She was very friendly and made us feel comfortable being there. The food was hot, tasty, and portioned perfectly. Thank you for all your hard work and patience with the public.
We had a server that was busy so our table only got a few looks but it ended up being alright. This could have been a better outcome if we were seated elsewhere. I was a bit irritated because it was my wife's birthday and her parents were in town but it is what it is.
We waited 15 minutes to be seated, no biggie. Our waitress (Jackie) approached us immediately for our drink order but we waited about 10 minutes to get a water and ice tea. When she finally brought them she took our order. I asked for an omelette with onions, mushroom, and spinach, a side of fresh fruit, and rye toast. My boyfriend got the chicken salad plate which has fresh fruit. As we waited I noticed our waitress Jackie getting annoyed and rolling her eyes with customers and other waitresses talking very loudly complaining about customers. Our food arrived and my fruit plate had one extremely small unripe strawberry although my boyfriend's plate had nice ripe cut strawberries. I apparently inconvenienced Jackie when I asked for another strawberry because her and the other waitresses preceded to speak loud enough for me to hear that I had nerve asking for it. She brought me ONE, yes one, more barely ripe strawberry with a side of attitude. I also got burnt toast but wasn't about to ask for them to redo it. Her attitude was unnecessary since neither of us was rude to her or anyone else. The manager of this Bob Evans should pay close attention to their employees. I won't ever come back because of Jackie's attitude and sub par food. And if anyone's interested this is only the second time in my life I left the server no tip.
Update: My boyfriend had to use the restroom as I was paying the bill. Upon leaving he apologized for how long it took and informed me he has got sick. I can't say positively say but he believes the chicken salad was to blame.
Him and I travel extensively for work and eat out almost every meal. I've been to Bob Evans across the country and can honestly say this was my first bad experience at one. Disappointing to say the least.
My wife ate in the restaurant with a friend and brought take out home for me. It was chicken breast, broccoli and mashed potatoes with gravy and rolls. Everything was good except the chicken which was nothing but bone and gristle. If I had been in the restaurant I would have sent it back. My wife's food was good. In the past I have been satisfied
except for their fish which is always disappointing but not terrible.
Being from the West Coast, I'd never been to a Bob Evans. However while visiting family on the East Coast, I went twice. I was that good.
Seated in 10 minutes Ordered and waited 20 for my breakfast. Poor waitress had to apologize after my second coffee. it has been 10 years since I tried Bob Evans It will be 10 years for my return but my life expectancy is less. Safe to say I probably never will return.Been another10 minutes. now and I FORGOT what I ordered
I'm not a fan of chains, but wanted to try out Bob Evans because it's described as "home style cooking." The lesson of my visit: be suspicious when a national chain claims to be similar to home cooking! There is no comparison. I've had some of their breakfast meats and they are extremely greasy. Also overpriced. The place, when you walk in, isn't as tidy as it could be too.
Their Cobb salad does not taste fresh at all. The chicken is stringy and taste a bit frozen, exactly what you'd expect from low quality frozen meat at a national chain. The vegetables are limp and flavorless; so was the bacon. Their sauces are far too heavy, especially salad dressings.
I believe they are known for their rolls and biscuits. I tried some of them, and they were mediocre. Not terrible, but not special in any way. They were mostly flavorless but had a bit of salt. The outside was hard, the inside was a bit softer.
There's really no reason to eat at this chain unless you are pinched for time or have some kind of fondness for greasy chain food. There are places nearby that serve much tastier breakfasts (some even at a cheaper price!) and they are locally owned.
