Stopped by the Bob Evan’s Homestead. Drove through the Christmas decorations on the farm. Then stopped in for lunch.
The dining area is clean and nicely decorated. There were very few here for lunch which was surprising.
The service was excellent. We ordered grilled cheese, turkey and dressing and ham steak lunches.
The meals were good and filling. We would stop again if in the area at mealtime.
I’ve driven past numerous times on my way to visit my daughter in North Carolina and never managed to be passing by when I could stop and eat. I’m so glad I was able to this time. It was a Thursday morning and really quiet so I was served quickly. It was delicious. An open face biscuit with sprinkle sausage, a fried egg, sausage gravy, and cheese. And a side of hash browns. Yum! Hash browns were perfect; crispy and not too oily. Biscuit was amazing and the gravy….. drool. The waitress was very friendly and it was a great experience. I’ll definitely be stopping again if the timing lines up. Some of dinners on the menu looked delicious. It was also pleasant to take a short walk and read some of the historical markers for the buildings. Peaceful, pleasant stop in the middle of a long drive.
Bob Evans was a real farmer who lived in Rio grand Ohio. What you are about to see is The Bob Evans Farm 52 nd festival . A family oriented event with rides, music, square dancers, arts and crafts , live stock and food. The choices are difficult so try them all, A huge Sausage sandwich , Apple dumpling with ice cream, roasted ears of corn, soup beans, and much more. There is handicap parking and also shuttle needs. The adult admission is $5
There is NO BUFFET!! Other than that there was plenty of food trucks consisting of ice cream, hot dog, popcorn trucks. I highly reccomend you try A-Towns Pies and Fries. They are good good, I had the cheesy bacon cajun fries amd it was a generous portion and definetly worth the 13$. There was also ample vendors there with nitted and painted merchs. Stands for apple butters, honeys, jerky, and even pots of beans. There was live dancing and music, we saw a tap dancing group while we were eating. The tent closest to the Bob Evan was playing rock. Plenty of farm animals and my fav was the Longhorns just like the ones you'd see at a Texas U game! Even though theres no buffet saddly I do reccommend. Oh and for some odd reason it all closed at five!?
Food portion was smaller than usual. I am sure it was due to inflation and everything being cut back. Service was good. Store was reasonably clean. There is a small display of items inside for sale too. We would go again and eat. It's really cool that the homestead is right next door for photos.
Average food. The best part was the French toast. The eggs and hash browns were not the best “unseasoned”. The fresh strawberries were nice. It was cool to see the original location.
Super friendly staff, wholesome great tasting food! The educational farm is a great idea. Everything is clean and neat. We are planning to make it a halfway stop now on our summer trips to Michigan from North Carolina. Good food with a place to stretch your legs. A hidden gem.
My husband and I travel to West Virginia a lot for the weekends and we stop at this location a lot. We usually don't get the best service. The wrong food was delivered this time and the pancakes were paper thin and had dirty grease from the grill on them. We don't complain if we can help it but when you get the same kind of service and food every time it's depressing. There are no other sit-down restaurants in the area that I know of so we just bare it out. It is the first ever Bob Evans and one would assume they would only want the best there but that just isn't the case.
