I was there as a guest for Family Day. It was quite an interesting experience to see the inside of the shops. Santa Fe was always my favorite railroad and these shops have been updated to the BNSF needs but still retain some of the old time look and feel to them.
Played with the Topeka Santa Fe band at the Topeka BNSF family day. Had a great time. Saw many people I worked with. Good to see everyone!
Worst place and laziest people ever dont even think about delivering a flatbed shipment over here, they take 1 truck a day !
This place used to be SANTA FE RAILROAD TOPEKA SHOP FACTORY till it was turned into BNSF in the late 90s.
My grandfather worked here after he got out of the Navy in the 50's all the way to 1996 when he retired. He worked in the machine shop and was a master and legendary electrician and he also worked on a lot of the trains that would come through on the railroad that would go through that shop. The railroad actually went through the inside of Santa Fe Topeka shop Factory building for the trains to be worked on. I remember visiting him a lot at Santa Fe when I was a kid which is in Oakland right off of Seward Road.
To me it will always be Santa Fe and I'll always refer to it as Santa Fe, Not BNSF!!
Easy check in
Quiet, hometown feel.
Can't comment. It was closed, but unless I review it, it will never go off this list. So darn annoying.
After 37 1/2 years I retired from there.
