super late to post this review, but i got 2 tattoos done with John (my first tattoos actually!) in the beginning of the year with my significant other & he did such an amazing job. he calmed me down from my nerves when we first started tattooing & he was so light handed! he’s such a funny guy & has such a welcoming personality. i’m actually writing this review because i had to search him up again because i’m thinking of getting another tattoo real soon.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND! I've wanted to do this for many years, but never found an artist I trusted enough until Brian. He free-handed this (aside from the foot prints) and I couldn't be happier. We have since moved to Maui but will come back for all our future tattoo because that's how good he is. The shop is welcoming and clean, prices are fair, and the people are super chill and overflowing with aloha.
So my father and I were in Kauai jumping from tattoo shop to shop and none of them felt right or gave us the time of day to sit and let us talk out and plan an appointment. Not Jon he greeted us in and we were met with a smile and a lets do attitude and it felt like fate was telling us this was the place and time to get our tattoo's. I'm not big with needles and I get anxious when around them but Jon worked with me and created an atmosphere where I could get comfortable. Jon did a Japanese wave tattoo for me and my father got a Maui hook and they turned out fantastic. I just want to say Thank you Jon so glad we crossed paths.
My best friend and I came to Kauai after visiting other islands for a field studies college and we each wanted tattoos to commemorate the adventures. Coming to Jon was the best decision. He is professional and has a very clean and relaxing shop. Jon is an amazing person and has a good vibe. I would highly recommend coming to his shop! If I'm ever back in Kauai, I will make a stop for some more ink!

My wife and I were here on the last day of our visit to Kauai. I had made a decision to get a tattoo before I headed back to mainland. I did not have an appointment. I arrived at the studio 15 minutes before opening and Jon let me right in. We talked for a few minutes and he did a couple of quick sketches to show me what he was thinking and we decided on a design. The pictures below are from the day of and 4 weeks later. Overall I'm very happy with everything thing at Blue Wave. Jon is a little eccentric and the shop has a funky vibe but he is a good artist and the shop is clean. If I ever make it back to the island I will be go back for more ink.
I contacted Jon early in my trip to Kauai to schedule an appointment for a tattoo of a rooster. From the beginning he was easy to contact, eager to put something together and pumped to do the tattoo. It just made me more excited to even get the tattoo done. He was able to do a schedule change the same week and even a last minute change to the tattoo. The whole experience when I was there was more than I expected. Great conversation, amazing attention to detail and a clean and relaxing environment. I get a travel tattoo everywhere I go and this has to be my best experience yet! 5 star ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Jon was great! Very personable and accommodating! The tattoo I got was pretty basic but he took his time and still made sure it was quality work. It can be sketchy to get a tattoo on vacation but I'm extremely happy with his services and would highly recommend!
