Best WLM Reviews
Blue Corn has great food! I got the 3 grilled fish taco combo that comes with rice and beans. Everything was so good! The presentation was wonderful, the black beans and the rice was very fresh and tasty. The grilled fish tacos were wonderful. The service was friendly and fast. We sat outside for our meal. Everything was very enjoyable! We will definitely be returning.
Hit or miss… loud, expensive and different. This is not your usual Mexican meal or drink. They bill it as “modern Mexican” … just stick to the street tacos.
The service was slow, the cocktails were good but unusual (margaritas with lemons) and the entrees were either good or not eatable.
Thought we would a couple of their “classic” entrees.
My wife enjoyed her steak Tampiqueña, but my Huarache / Asada was so tough I couldn’t eat it.
Took a while to find our waiter, then waited for him to bring our check. Dinner & 2 margaritas were over $80. ????
I really enjoyed this! You never know what to expect when you get modern takes on Mexican food. They did a great job. The food was flavorful and the portions weren't small! I was only able to eat about half! The tortillas tasted homemade and the salsa verde was ????!!!
Can't wait to go back for margs!
Some of the best Mexican food I've ever had. So flavorful and large portions, you will not leave hungry. We went on a Saturday night, were instantly seated, and served immediately. Highly recommend any of the skirt steak dishes. We will be coming back!
I was fortunate to do Taco Tuesday with friends here! We got to Blue Corn a bit late so I appreciated the host sharing that the kitchen was closing. We quickly got seated at the bar and ordered.
Kevin (the Bartender) made my mojito in front of me and I saw the fresh mint! The food came out quickly!
I absolutely loved the Barbacoa and the pastor tacos with the green sauce. The fish taco was okay—the fish was small and a bit overdressed. I also loved the salsa. It was well seasoned and offered a nice kick!
Prices are a bit high for a restaurant in BR, but overall was a good experience.
I have a rule to not eat Mexican food east of the Sabine River, but I was craving it on my way to New Orleans. This will teach me to not break that rule in the future. I ordered the Blue Corn W/Asada. Pan fried enchiladas, smothered in guajillo sauce, rolled up w/queso fresco, topped w/mexican cream & cheese. Served w/diced potatoes, carrots & house salad. It looked great. Absolutely no flavor. Every thing was bland. The potatoes are deep red, giving the promise of tasty chorizo. Nothing. The enchiladas were not even warm. The crema on the enchiladas tasted like mayonnaise. The asada was paper thin and tough. The only thing that had flavor was the salsa. It tasted like it was from a jar. To top it off, they had dance club music playing loudly. Repeating the same five or six songs multiple times during my lunch. Maybe it is good for Baton Rouge, but definitely not for west of the Louisiana border.
Best Mexican Restaurant I’ve been to east of Texas.
The salsa and guacamole is amazing. Im told is made fresh daily. And the lecream (white cheese) is to die for. I’m not sure what I ordered as I told the waiter what I like and let him pick a dish for me. All I know is they are going to spice it up a bit as I like spicy food and it’s normally not spicy.
Ok, it’s getting better and better now that the entrees are here.
I don’t remember the name of the dish but it’s the one in the square plate that the waiter ordered for me. The small container of green (I think its a spicy mole sauce) is the extra addition to give it more heat. They decided to put it on the side instead of directly on it. After one taste, I put a generous portion on half of it, so I could enjoy some original flavor and some spicy. I also used some with the chips. Both people with me were very happy with their food. The fajitas were excellent as the steak, chicken and shrimp were very tasty.
I also had a little bowl of soup that was very tasty. Reminds me of eating hot tamales.
I’m looking forward to coming back when I am in town.
Added a few more pictures of the outside and the spicy mole sauce
Love, Love LOVE this place. I have been twice. Food was amazing both times. I almost didn't come back a second time because the service was AWFUL. My server was very rude and kept questioning that I wanted the mole and came to explain it to me multiple times even though I told her I know what it is and I really enjoy the flavors. She was incredibly slow and my husband and I would have liked to order a second drink and dessert but chose to leave when we had the opportunity.
Now the 2nd time I went, I sat at the bar. The bartenders were FANTASTIC. Very attentive, answered any questions and gave 5 ⭐ service. Food was equally delicious, portions are large so both times I had enough for lunch the next day which is always a fun added bonus.
