I've walked by this place for quite sometime and never stopped...I kept saying "someday". Someday finally came and I've been missing out. I was pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere, the interior decorations and the smell of great food coming from the kitchen. Margaritas are good it's really hard to mess this up so not expecting too much but they were good. I tried a dish that I rarely see anywhere else in Chicago. Aguachile. The literal translation is chile water. They have two types here one that's green made with jalapenos and the second one is red made with chile de arbol. For newbies red is a little spicier. This aguachile is made with shrimp, red onion , cucumber all marinated in lime juice and jalapeno green salsa. Usually I'm a little apprehensive about eating ra w seafood marinated in lime juice. YOLO. I'm happy I took the chance because it was delicious it was the perfect afternoon snack with a salty margarita on a Sunday sunny afternoon. They had a small menu but very interesting with a few items that I will be back to try. For something hidden away right off of Des plaines on Kinzie as part of a high-rise apartment building not too bad there was plenty of seats available, the bar had some nice choices for tequila and agave plus plenty of different types of tequila made cocktails to choose from.
Their food never disappoints!
Our starter was chips and salsa, along with a bowl of the chicken tortilla soup. Everywhere we have a soup of this nature, we always need to add a bit of salt, but that's just our preference. I would rather have to add salt than something be over salted.
For the main course, we had the barbacoa molcajete, which was so flavorful! Comes with 4 tortillas and has so much meat, it's plenty to share.
I can't say enough about their food.
Please check them out!
The Tijuana style fries we're the best thing to order!!!!!!! Nachos were allllright
Even on happy hour we spent $147 .... Ordered 4 drinks and 6 mixed shots and fries and nachos ... I don't think it was happy hours lol but overall great vibes
They don't pay attention at all! The lady was in a "hurry up and buy" mood! Didn't get the order right????. Cook didn't even prepare the messed up order right! Didn't put no meat on the 18 dollar nachos! It was all bad! Drinks watered all the way down! It's a no on a return for me and mine
Went here after work for happy hour with colleagues. I had the quesadillas with shredded chicken (loved it). My colleague had the enchiladas (she stated the beef was dry and the beans and rice weren't flavorful). Another colleague had the steak tacos (the steak looked overcooked and dry). All of us loved the drinks (not weak at all). I loved the ambiance and the wait staff were very attentive.
It is a hit every time we go. Sometimes, due to the seat yourself policy, you may find yourself looking for a waiter, but once you do, IT'S only UP from there. Great food and a variety of tequila.
Big portions for a fair price. I had the Chile relleno with elote and sauted veggies as my side. Ate half and will have the other half tomorrow! Lots of vegetarian options and daily deals. I went with a group of 8 for lunch and had no problem being seated.
Love this place will definitely go back. I wish I had taken photos of the food that myself and my companions and I had ordered.
