The atmosphere is nice but not extraordinary as it is often described. They serve unique Benedicts for brunch and a wide variety of drinks. I found their burgers to be good but not great. Service was very good and reliable, but to be fair we opened the place on a Sunday morning.
Not even sure where to start; but, oh boy is the service horrible. We were seated promptly our server came over took our drink and appetizer order. My husband was not given the drink he ordered so he had to wait for Jenn to come back. When she came back she took our entree order, mind you we still haven't seen our appetizer and we had to ask for the correct drink for my husband. So she asks us if we wanted an appetizer we told her you took that order when you took our drink order. So needless to say she ran off because she forgot to put in the appetizer order.
Our food did eventually come out. The food was hot and fresh. My meal was not as I ordered; but, it was fine I took what I didn't order off of my sandwich.
We waited 15 minutes for our check, when Jenn came back we gave her our credit card. When she came back for us to sign the bill she gave us somebody else's credit card and bill. We tell her it is wrong, she grabs it and runs around trying to figure out where it goes. She was holding our credit card in her hand and tried giving it to two different guests. I told her it was ours and to give it to us. She lost another guests credit card and boy was he mad! I don't blame him either. When we got home we looked at our credit statement, lo and behold we were charged for our check and somebody else's. Yes, I called the credit card company.
So sad that the service was terrible, because the food and atmosphere are excellent. Jenn's performance with the credit cards sealed the deal for us we will not be back.
This place was pretty good. Not the best burger ever, however, all the other stuff was great. Clean fast and good service. I would come back to try other menu items
This was my first time here and it was amazing ????. We made reservations and we was seated outside (75 Degrees) and it was great weather to sit outside. Food was amazing. It was 6 of us and food came out nice and hot and no mistakes. It was plated well and beautiful ???? . There is seating inside and outside. There is enough parking ????️ and curbside parking. Menu is really easy to understand and read. Women's bathroom is clean ????. Overall, Food was wonderful, staff and service was great. I highly recommend.
Been here twice now and it’s been a great experience both times. We really dig the 1700’s historical prints and the old tyme nature of the building itself. Chicken pot pie is amazing. Love the brussel sprouts appetizer. Highly recommended
Terrific place for good comfort food. The loaded potato chips hit the spot! Burgers are fantastic - I highly recommend the American burger. Prices are very reasonable for the portions, service is always quick, and the ingredients fresh. The fries could use some extra flair, but are good nonetheless. I actually prefer the crinkle-cut sweet potato fries - great balance of salty and sweet.
Stopped at the Black Powder Tavern on our way back from a hike in the Valley Forge Park. Super nice weather put us outdoors in the garden. While the food is good, the service was sub par. Our party of 6 ordered (nothing fancy - salads and burgers) my soup and appetizer came first. The whole table was looking at me while I was eating and we shared my appetizer (brussel sprouts) knowing that I have a salad coming. After more than 30 mins, the food came... For everyone else though, my salad was missing. It took another 20 mins to flag down the server to see when my food was coming as I needed to leave. He had forgotten it. Now everyone at the table had finished eating and I had nothing coming. "I'm sorry, he said, I forgot to put it in". Given that we had now spent almost 50 minutes in waiting I declined his offer to put in the salad then. Nothing else was offered. That was it.
I asked for my check and he took extra long time to split the check. I mean extra long.
I had to go hunt him down to pay. I asked if I can pay with someone else and he said, no, you have to wait, only I can process the payment.
I was late for an appointment otherwise I would have asked for a manager.
So unfortunate to lose customers for below mediocre service.
No, I'm not coming back.
Wife and I had a quick stop. We reserved a table on line. The food was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend the Cajun Mac and cheese. The price is a bit high but it is definitely worth it. Great food and service. Also a neat place for history buffs.
